I think the 1-11 was discussed earlier in here, re the fastest journey LHRABZ.

I thought Trident, another TriStar, but concensus I think was 1-11.

Report on BBC Local Radio that 2 airlines actively looking into an ABZ-Poland service following the recent survey.

Warsaw, Gdansk or Krakow listed as the favourite preferred destinations, 97% would fly more often to Poland if there was a local link (including likely thon Polish locum that commutes Poland-Prestwick-Aberdeen every Friday!!) instead of travelling to central belt airports as they do currently.

Wonder who the two airlines are? Eastern had said they were looking to expand to Europe! Probably airlines like Wizz or Centralwings.

It is reported that Ryanair was very close to setting a new base at an unnamed Scottish airport but it went to Birmingham instead.

So it could only be EDI or ABZ? I wonder if ABZ just missed the boat..... yet again!

Well it had to be either ABZ or EDI. It can't be GLA when they are set up in PIK! As for touching any HIA airport... pigs may fly!

There are still rumours of an imminent RYR base in EDI.

Considering the catchment area of Edinburgh compared to Aberdeen I think Edinburgh is far more likely.

By the way is anyone ever going to do a Stansted service again from ABZ. Surely someone could make a profit on it. Afterall people visiting London could use it (the easyJet Luton service seems to do good business) as well as those visiting East Anglia, Essex and East side of the M25 area etc. If it was promoted properly Aberdeen residents could be made aware of all the potential low-cost destinations from Stansted that they could connect to.

There's a rumour that Faroe operator Atlantic Airways will be operating a couple of times a week to Stansted from Aberdeen, although there's nothing on their website yet.

They used to do Vagar - Sumburgh - Stansted but suppose stopping at Aberdeen could provide more demand. Still twice a week won't be much use!

How does ABZ-FAE do these days? Been on the go for a few years now.

Mainly oil traffic? Oil deposits much rumoured out there, nothing of significance yet.

Eastern have a BP charter to Faroe at the moment, BP are doing some exploration drilling on the William field.

Not a good success rate so far for Faroe prospects but from the net it looks like they're hopeful this time.

I wouldn't hold your breath for info from Atlantic airways, from what I hear they tell the passengers before they advise the airport/ground handlers!

Was there something going on last night (28th January). I went to bed at 10.45pm in in the next half hour I heard at least 5 different aircraft as though they had just taken off?

Sounded like military activity to me, tucked up in my bed.

Well I did think that but I wouldn't have thought there would have been 5 different flights between 10.45pm and 11.15pm. Hubby was working nightshift and also mentioned he heard aircraft in the early hours which sounded like they had just taken off.

I'd put my money on an orbiting Nimrod............. It sounded quite fruity.
