Was looking to book with flybe to London City and I see from 10 November they're adding an extra flight each way in the middle of the day from Monday to Friday. Was this announced and I missed it?

Can't recall it getting announced, good to see figures on a Sunday pretty much 100% full, prob to do with school returning but good anyways, first flybe from Leeds inbound on a dash-8 had 74 on, good figures for a new route, no idea about East Midlands or what has happened as no announcement on that either

Little red
Of further interest is the loss of Virgin in sept next year, as reported the slots revert back to british airways and don't need to be used for scottish routes, so potential for 8k of seats lost a week as Ba can quite rightly use the slots for more profitable long haul routes. I can't imagine na operating 767s to Aberdeen as they do to the likes of Glasgow and Edinburgh, interesting times ahead especially since hearhrow has had huge growth recently on the route.

I wouldn't be expecting any major changes on the LHR from BA. Just like the last time they got the route to themselves, I will really only be expecting to see a slight upwards shift in capacity - I'll be surprised to see anything other than minor changes in frequency.
Also bear in mind that the A321's will soon be configured with more than 200 seats - not too much less than the 767's.
Oh, and the pax numbers actually increased when BD were pulled off the LHR.

Aberdeen has been nominated for the unwanted title of the most dismal town in Scotland.
Found Aberdeen to be a pleasant place, even if the residents have a reputation for being tight, stress the word "reputation".
about the same time as the bypass opens ... and the oil runs out

There ARE worse places than Aberdeen in Scotland - try Dundee for a start
but I didn't nominate them for the booby prize - the people who did referred to it as "Aberdeen - the place where architecture comes to die..."
Al least there is plenty of work there

Seem happy enough with the performance of OSL:

Wonder how the competing SAS service is doing?

SAS seem determined to persevere with it - agreed 717 probably a better fit than 737 especially with competition on the route.
Racking my brains, think this would be first time a 717 will have appeared at Dyce if it all comes to plan.

Difference in capacity though is negligible between the 717 and 736 so it can't be for that.
As it stands SAS have also updated their schedule to reflect the end of the Cimber contract and all roations will be operated by the CRJ900.

Seems ABZ 'missed out' in favour of EDI to be the Scottish terminal for Atlantic A/W & their new route from Vagar in S15 with their A319.
Seems the Faroese carrier are developing a strategy of linking with their nearest neighbours.
ABZ & LSI have been served before by Atlantic, at a time when there was thought to be significant hydrocarbons in Faroese waters. EDI was rightly chosen this time on account of its excellent onward connections & larger catchment area that exists in the central belt - something that no amount of expensive housing & bypass up here will be able to overcome.

Surprised Thomo still having to make fuel stops on ABZ TFS runs what with runway extensions and higher powered aircraft, days gone by used to see it for the 732s struggling to make it and stopovers in Santiago. Maybe just weather related.

Yes, the runway extension has worked out well thus far. I can't think of a single service that has been attracted specifically because there has been slightly more tarmac laid. Did Lufthansa come because of it? I don't it was uppermost in their thinking, although the aircraft does sound a wee bit higher as it roars over my housing estate on the first outbound at ~0530hrs...
If I recall, the outgoing owners didn't even construct the initial length to the north they stated they would, notwithstanding the hill to the north that is said to create a significant obstacle to any future lengthening in that direction.
I have often wondered if the owners - especially now the new owners - could extend both ends of the main to the peri roads (with attendant blast protection of course) & operate with displaced thresholds so that departures have the extra length, whilst arrivals touch down where they normally would as now, but then have the longer run off.
Just a thought and of course it all comes down to cost in the end, and exactly what investment Ferrovial & Co are prepared to commit to.

Wonder what the next 12mths will bring? Given current trends in the oil industry, decidedly mixed I would have thought. Costs are being cut, the city & it's airport I doubt will be unaffected by this.
Oil price down, costs up usually means lost jobs & contraction.
EDIT: Airport wins award:
