A380 to GRU from 26th March

If I'm not wrong EK is the only carrier to fly the A380 to all continents.

I understood from other threads that the ME3 were all under pressure to increase their revenue more than their PAX. Since numbers on GLA-DXB were reported in august as more or less static, they could surely only justify a A380 by reducing the frequency?

Emirates flights ex GLA are operating at 95%+ load factors in July and other busy periods. Business class is almost always full.
The A380 attracts customers that might fly from elsewhere. People going on holidays of a lifetime may spend a bit more to fly on the super jumbo.

I thought that the A380 has very little freight capacity?

It wasn't clear from your previous post whether the flights were bursting at the seams with freight or PAX.
I thought I had seen on this or other threads that there were a lot of bargain fares on all the ME3, which implies unfilled seats.

Whilst I understand you are referring to GLA believe me there are no bargain basement prices with EK ex DXB, EK is the most expensive option in J and F, hence why as a DXB resident, I don't use them. QR and BA are more cost effective coming to the U.K. and when the price differential is x2 you may understand my comment

In Scotland at the moment, there is a bit of a price war going on between the ME3 with all fares being relatively low. EK used to be more expensive but their fares have dropped recently as they now have new competition from QR and EY in what is a tough marketplace.
More capacity in the form of the A380 will only exacerbate this however it will be good to see the whale operating into Scotland.

Flights from an airlines home base country are almost always more expensive than a transit through the home base. I recently priced two flights with BA to Asia, one starting in MAN and the other in Europe with the long haul sector out of and back into LHR on the same flights, same day. The flight ex Europe was £1,400 CHEAPER than that out of MAN.

I did a check today for trips to either Singapore or HK from EDI or GLA on April 9. I stipulated 1 change.
For both destinations Etihad were substantially the cheapest and Qatar the most expensive. Most of the other cheap options were KLM.

on a recent UK- Oz trip in business, Emirates out of Paris were 30% cheaper than QF & 20% cheaper than BA & Emirates out of LHR

DXB-ATH-EWR to be launched on 12th March

Newark is a new US destination and EK the only airline to operate year-round US-Greece service. Also important to add new US flights sooner than later as Mr. Trump may close the door.
