Some recent flight I have had with EK on both 777 /380 have been on some quite tired A/C at least internally. Therefore either upgrade interiors or get new A/C but with the size of EK fleet this is no doubt difficult. Having said that one of my last BA flight (some years ago now) was on an even worse 777 to Nairobi where nothing worked in my Business class seat (including the crew) and no transfer available or upgrade offered, and that A/C is I believe still with them.

My 3 flights on A380 (2&3class) in January were all on newish aircraft with the new redesigned bar

I think it depends a lot on routes. My main EK route is Man - DXB hen onwards on what ever metal on the route. My comments on the 380 appertain to this route, and I am usually on mid day or evening flight. It has been the 3 class older 380 which I have noted been noticeably less spiffy shall we say. I agree with you about the new bar, although I usually stand rather than use the booths, as I find that is one of the best things about the EK 380 experience, in that there is space to stretch your legs, speak to other passengers and indeed crew, without getting in the way. One of the nicest and interesting bars in the world I find.
777 have been on Cape Town and India routes recently, and were just a little older then I have travelled on other routes, along with on return to DXB being taken to gates half way to Muscat which involved long bus rides !

So after what, 3 go-arounds at GLA ? the Emirates went back to the hold then diverted to NCL. 5 hours away by road, if the roads were open. What Emirates could have done, if Customer care was of any importance to them, was divert to PIK. For the information of Emirates, PIK is 30 miles from GLA and PIK had no weather issue. Then Emirates could have taken on a little fuel then repositioned to GLA and landed as every other flight did. PIK, Prestwick Airport, is an hour by road from Glasgow and 40 minutes by train. Your passengers would have been in their own beds tonight. A very, very poor performance.

Staff to assist the passengers
Hotel contract in place
Transport contract in place
engineering in place
need I go on......
most airlines would divert to an online port ahead of an offline port.

You don't get the point do you STN ? Hotels and transport would not have been necessary if it had topped up fuel at PIK then landed back at GLA, and so not have massively inconvenienced the passengers, which may have included cancelling the outbound flight.
Standard procedure to divert to an airport you already use if possible.
MAN to BHX or LHR for EK or BHX to MAN or GLA. First question had they got the staff
to handle flight, second if aircraft broke down could they get maintenance people there,if they are going to do dash and go does it matter other than they have their own guys at NCL or MAN. The days of PIK handling large diversions has probably gone forever except maybe cargo

PIK3141 Perhaps they diverted to NCL because of hours and crewing issues. There would be a crew already at NCL to take over the operation if necessary. There would be no point in diverting to PIK becasue the crew could wouldn't be given a time when GLA would be open.
Without wishing to go into a debte about crewing, ops can if required, put the crew on minimum rest which is usually 11-12 hours. This happened to me a lot back in my flying days.

Funny enough once the GLA diversion landed here the heavens opened with Snow resulting in EK36 being delayed by 4 hours its self. I imagine EGNT was already the alternate for that route weather permitting.

Airlines are more than capable of making decisions regarding their operations. They certainly won't be paying any attention to the rants of a spotter on an Internet forum.
I'm sure Emirates are quite aware of Prestwick's existence.
Perhaps if you're so angry about this diversion to Newcastle you should contact Emirates with your booking reference number. You don't have a booking reference? So you weren't on this flight? What concern is it to you then?
Airlines aren't charities out there to give spotters a photo op or fan boys the buzz of an extra few hundred pax through their local airport. Utterly bizarre.

Less than half of the delay on EK36 was due to tech, the rest being due to the weather (runway below limits followed by A/C de-icing once the runway was back in limits). As far as I’m aware it was never minutes away from being cancelled.
