Aer arran shifting cork service 2 glasgow in air lingus
It's not a major issue really. The current Aer Arran passenger numbers are really small beer and the announcement of the Ryanair hangar build and additional based aircraft balance any loss out. Given the closer relationship with Aer Lingus the consolidation at GLA was on the cards.
As far as revenue is concerned, I reckon the Panalpina service is a bigger loss. Why Stansted? It this Atlas Air driven or Panalipina driven? Having lost Polar and now the last scheduled Atlas Air, freight is taking a hit.

I'll give up on this one when I see hard evidence that Aer Arann is actually moving the Donegal flight to Glasgow. You are free to phone the head office in Dublin - press option 4, the first three are recorded messages.

apron_alpha you did say it was Prestwick - Cork at first so people may be a little sceptical. Time will tell.
As an aside I remember when Donegal was still called Carrickfin and was operated by a Loganair SD360 from GLA. God I feel old.

Apron Alpha, Thanxs for saying you will try and find out who is building the RYR hangar - thought my post was slightly lost because of the Aer Arran debate...appreciate it.

So, Aer Arann are off to Glasgow's other airport. How many passenegers per annum are we talking here, 15,000 a year perhaps. This can be made up by just one FR return flight a week operating at a load factor of 80%. Not nice to lose any airline but PIK has been here before and will bounce back I'm sure. Anyway nice of BAA PR Department to recognise 'Glasgow Prestwick'. Bit of a gaff there if you ask me.

According to CAA statistics the total passengers on the Prestwick - Donegal route has been under 10,000 a year for the past few years (between 9000 & 10000), so the impact on passenger figures at Prestwick will be small.
