Let's hope this Dornier doesn't have as many tech probs as I'm told the last one did!

Thumbs up

I agree.....it looks classy; Alderney flag and name references are a nice touch.

Sooo do we know how a paying customer might book to fly on :
1) a Do228
2) a Trislander

Both rare types, the first of which I had given up on. Routes each day view?

Skipness I think that the Tris will be GCI_ACI and the 228 GCI-ACI-SOU. I dont know about Dinard but they may stay a Tris route. BTW have flown on both on Tris in the islands and on the 228 with Air Wales. Would like to try the 228 into ACI could be interesting.

Southampton to Alderney Engine Issue

Heard that a Trislander on Monday 25th May returned to Southampton with an engine shutdown? Any truth to this or another rumour?? Apparently some passengers then travelled with blue to Guernsey.

I noticed the Dornier made a rare visit to the great outdoors today, albeit only to the engineering ramp (or did I miss a traning flight)! As it was delivered weeks ago I'm amazed that it still hasn't entered service yet.

I did notice serious delays on the ACI-GCI and ACI-SOU flights 25May in the afternoon on the information screens at both airports

Yes, I expect all the Trislanders were broken again. Some pax were flown to GCI then up to Alderney by chartered boat. Seems to be another repeat of Easter.

When is Dornier flying going to recommence. Can't be soon enough.

When is the Portuguese Dornier (with its Aurigny paint scheme) going to arrive ?

I am going to defend Aurigny over last weekend.

There was thick fog in Alderney, some in Guernsey and a little in Jersey for the whole of the Friday. With six full SOU-ACI they were booked to absolute capacity as I understand it. One flight ACI-SOU made it, but Aurigny staff did a great job of looking after the passengers. On the Saturday they managed two extra flights, making eight SOU-ACI. I believe each of the three Trislanders made eight flights that day. Around 50 pax were flown to GCI with other carriers and three boats were chartered from Guernsey to Alderney.

That the Dornier is still not available to Ops must be major source of frustration during a bank holiday weekend coinciding with a half term. Especially when the need to replace the Trislanders was identified around 3 years ago.

Another problem for the trislander out of Southampton today. Had to return and local services called out for an engine problem.

Dornier

So the wait goes on, and on, and on etc

The Portuguese Dornier has presumably been operating around Europe for some time and indeed was on lease to GR last year yet it has dissapeared for some 'mods'?

The 2nd Dornier which has been flying around the UK for years under manx2 (or whatever they are know as now) yet has been locked away for 'mods'.

Last time I checked these things have been operating in and out of various dirt tracks perched on mountain cliffs in Tibet yet to tackle the fearsome Alderny they need months and months of mods?

Who are these idiots that run this airline, further proof that public run companies are pathetically inadequate in every single way? I welcome someone to try and explain this shambolic display.

It's lack of training captains., the Aurigny crews need to do line training with Portuguese training Captains and they are employed elsewhere (there are a lot of political shenanigans going on at moment, enough said!!)

I was told that the delay in bringing G-SAYE into service was it's lack of emergency floor lighting..

Is the dornier on their AOC? Without that hurdle overcome, training captains, etc is pie in the sky.

All valid points but the retirement of the tri's has been on the cards for years. It's inexcusable that such an obviously impending problem was not planned meticulously in advance. Lets be fair, the tri's have hung around like a bad smell so they have had enough time on their hands!

HIAL managed to choose, order and take delivery of new equipment in a respectable amount of time. Lets not forget we are talking about the 'interim measure' (I think) of replacing 40 year old aircraft with 30 year old aircraft. What's the point of an interim measure if it takes a few years to implement? The whole thing is poor on so many levels.

The second 228 to be added to the Aurigny collection (they don't fly so I assume someone at GR is collecting them) arrives tomorrow 28/6/2015 with the third example (ex Venezuelan Navy) due to arrive in the last quarter of 2015.

DO228

This dornier fiasco is getting ridiculos

It's been ongoing for ages and nobody seems to have done anything concrete to solve the problem

The trislander has been going for ages as they knew it should have retired ages ago

The dorniers are a total laugh

Need floor lighting etc etc

I am surprised the CAA permit this operation to continue its a total Joke and it's obvious o
The management are total idiots
