Question ATR 72-500 problem?

In thirteen years of flying Aurigny had a first today - on check in (seq 46) was told that the aircraft was heavy so they would not be carrying duty free or catering. Then at the gate the "last 5 passengers to check in" were offloaded (including me) and put on the next Flybe flight - which, as it happened, landed not long after the Aurigny flight, despite being timetabled 45 minutes later - no no skin off my nose - but wondered what was behind this - extra freight they had to get across, or something tec with the old gal?

kuningan - Aircraft change from the planned 72 to 66 seater is the reason you were offloaded. Simples.

So why did they tell us the duty free and catering was being offloaded too? And if I was "one of the "last 5 to check in" why was I seq 46? I watched boarding and it looked far from full.....

ACI has neither 60+ seaters, nor Flybe as an alternative carrier.

Guernsey, and the lady at Duty Free who held on to my purchases as they took us back out through security to check in at Flybe mentioned a similar stunt with the Bristol flight earlier in the day.

When I do online check in I usually get a low Seq number - what I don't understand is how number 46 can be "in the last 5" on an overbooked flight...

I used to work in the airport and your sequence number runs in order regardless of where or how you checked in. If you were seq 46 then you were the 46th person to check in...makes sense i suppose.

This may not be connected, but it appeared to me that one of the ATR-72's was operating in and out of Gatwick with the undercarriage down on Tuesday and Wednesday. I was particularly surprised to see this over a two day period. My grandson may have logged the registration and if so I will post the info. tomorrow.

I'm told that trying to operate an ATR into airports with the undercarriage up can often be somewhat problematic (apologies for choice of picture but I couldn't find any other belly landing ones containing the appropriate type)

Fireworks are the last thing that is needed - a carefully thought out business plan is what is required maybe with some expansion as a niche cross-channel operator to/from small airports

Aurigny Appointment

John Moulton specialises in turning around ailing companies through Better Capital. This extends to numerous well known brands and could well indicate the state of the airline.

Yes mate, you can say that again! Charter of a Titan whisper earlier, two Tris OOS I think and a rumour of a problem shortly after the LGW lifted.

Have been suffering bad technical reliabilty & therefore punctuality with the ATR's over the last few months & must have spent thousands chartering aircraft. Tomorrow - 31 Jan they have 2 Flybe Dashes operating for them.

Update - Fokker 50 (Denim Air?) operating as DB still out of service
