The project is not complicated. Just a few roads and some sheds going up. The delay might be due to the fact that they can not get companies to occupy the site. If you want to a similar development, but on greater and more complicated scale take a look at Aberdeen. There is some fantastic development going on. Not just some sheds, but large offices etc. The development is going on there as there is a demand which may not be so at COVENTRY. Also you can see money is not a problem at ABZ judging by the land scaping being carried out along with the development.

The 'delay' is that a decision hasn't been made as to whether or not they'll be able to go ahead with it...
It's not just sheds, it appears to also include substantial office buildings aimed at 'hi tech' firms (Coventry's actually quite strong for knowledge based industries) but how this fits in with the massive 'Friargate' development in the city centre (By the station, near a transport hub, which is where certain businesses like to be clustered) is anyone's guess. Coventry's predicted to have strong growth in the next ten years, the highest growth in the West Midlands and also plans are being put in place (Apparently) to upgrade the station substantially, improve rail links and also perhaps built rapid transit systems linking a new bus station by the station with the large out of town areas (Traditionally Coventry developed this way as developers wanted to feed into the skilled workforce outside he city.)

My point about Aberdeen is that is actually happening. The development at CVT will never happen they have missed the boat. All that development planned for Coventry over the next ten years would be fantastic if it happens, as it would as you say great for Coventry. However in the real world the only development I can see happening is the runway modified to allow flying pigs to land.

Well my point was that this 'Gateway' can't go ahead as it doesn't have planning permission yet - which is perhaps the one reason why it's not 'happening' at the moment. We shall see what happens if they do get permission.

Breaking: Plan for 10,000 jobs in Coventry BLOCKED by government - Coventry Telegraph
Can't see Sir Peter running CVT for long now, it seems the "endgame" has ended.

Property investor M&G Real Estate has agreed to fund the development of a major distribution scheme adjacent to Coventry Airport which could bring hundreds of jobs to the city.
The company has acquired the 29-acre site at Imperial Park on Siskin Parkway West and committed Ł50.5m towards the build of three warehouse units totalling 575,000 sq ft.
The news comes a week after detailed proposals for the project were lodged with Warwick District Council by developers Rigby Group with Evander Properties Ltd. Outline permission was granted in December 2015.
Paul Crosbie, head of logistics and industrial at M&G Real Estate, said: "The demand/supply dynamic for grade A industrial space in the West Midlands remains compelling.
"Coventry benefits from an excellent and improving road network enabling efficient delivery times; together with a skilled and flexible local labour force which make it a favoured location for a variety of different occupiers."
Andrew Cox, of Rigby Group's real estate division, added: "This is a prime location in the centre of the country and at the heart of the road network, so is ideally placed and this news underlines those qualities.
"There is very strong interest in the units and we believe we will be satisfying a considerable demand for this type of development."
FSP and MWRE acted on behalf of M&G Real Estate while Colliers acted for Rigby Group.

I hear the Dc6 Diner and café has re-opened. Tried to get a table but fully booked for the time I wanted on 9th April due to the Shackleton doing taxi runs.
Also West Atlantic has acquired another 734, i seen JMCY's tail sticking out of the hangar as I drove passed.

The rumours of the logistics and share housing development at Cov are interesting just as DIRFT is expanding not that far away and Roxhill have achieved planning permission for a rail linked site just adjacent to East Midlands Airport. Coleshill has anothe rail linked logistics park near Birmingham Airport, there's another large logistics park near Lutterworth etc etc etc.
It's all very well moving and storing stuff about, but i see loads of empty warehouses around as I travel about the country.
Also government policy is to try to get things off the road network as much as feasibly possible and to support rail linked logistics hubs. Is Coventry rail linked?

It may be all to do with cost. Reducing the opening hours means reducing the cost. Keeping open until late evening for couple of freight movements can't be cheap considering
all the facilities and resource that's needed.

Hopefully it has a future in general aviation. With Wellesbourne in the sights of the local council looking for somewhere to build houses, private owners and businesses may need to find somewhere else to operate from. A smaller Coventry could be that airfield, whilst also freeing up some of the site for industrial and commercial development.
There are far too many commercial airports in UK, and frankly, losing another marginally sustainable one would be no great loss.

Stratford District Council certainly do not have EGBW in their sights, quite the opposite. They've confirmed its protection as an airfield as part of their core local plan. It's the owners who want to build on it.
