S14 Schedule Changes

Haven't looked at exact schedules - am hoping someone else (BALaddy - perhaps you could deploy your talents ?) might have the 2013 schedule data available to allow for a comparison
Below are a list of schedule changes that I have noticed, having compared WX's S13 LCY schedule with the schedule loaded on WX's website for S14

Frequency Changes

BES - Will increase from 1 to 2 x weekly. Flights continue to be operated by a F50
DUB - Will increase from 32 to 34 x weekly (29 x RJ85's & 5 x F50's weekly)
FLR - Will increase from 6 x weekly to Daily
FMO - Frequency reduced from 5 x weekly in S13 to 4 x weekly for S14
PAD - Frequency reduced from 6 x weekly in S13 to 4 x weekly for S14

Destinations Unavailable to Book

The following seasonal routes are currently unavailable to book for S14.

AVN - Operated weekly during S13
PUF - Operated weekly during S13
TLN - Operated 2 x weekly S13

All other routes continue to operate as S13. With the exception of EDI which WX will cease to operate this week. EDI operated 20 x weekly during S13

Further changes are likely in the coming months

Looks like London City-Brest has been dropped as well... possibly because of Easyjet launching a Gatwick-Brest route

Irish Independent reports active talks with Intro Aviation are back on again - Air France thought to be prepared to give a dowry in the form of paying off Cityjet's debts.

CityJet lost €10 per passenger in FY2012, even with a new owner and debt free according to reports how can the carrier face a sustainable future with an unsustainable fleet of aircraft and uncompetitive route network at London-City? Really hope CityJet survives in the short-term.

Contract flying

There are indications that AF will guarantee some contract flying for Cityjet initially, due the apparent grounding of everything smaller than E170 by Hop!. A Cityjet Avro is currently planned to make a daily appearance on CDG-HAJ-CDG for summer 2014.

I have just been booking flight on WX's website. It appears that the current AF flight numbers are being replaced with WX flight numbers from 30th March 2014. WX will use the last 3 digits of the current AF on for there new WX flight numbers, for example AF5019 will become WX019.

They are going to have to. With up to 16 flights a day on a Thursday and Friday in the Summer and ORY currently only being the other WX served airport, they will have to have two aircraft to complete the planned schedule. One to operate 3 daily EDI and 5 weekly JER and the other to do 3 daily GLA (Thu & Fri) and 1 daily ORY.

This feels rather like when Maersk UK was spun off from the BA umbrella and branched out into new and exciting places, briefly. Fokker 50s between Scotland and Wales is a long way from LCY-MAN business class fare of not so long ago.

Does the sale of Cityjet mean the opportunity to connect through Amsterdam will disappear?

If so, hopefully KLM will make a return to LCY.

Completely agree with Skipness.

The CWL base is a desperate attempt to divert attention from their sale, trying to appear somewhat ready for a new future.

But as long as their business model is maintained, LCY and other such airports are the only suitable locations for such a dying breed of airline.

Opening a base at CWL feels so like bmibaby opening a base at BHD ... Not for the long run I sense

CWL worked for BMI Baby and with the right ££££ it will work for City Jet, the loads were always high for EDI & GLA, JER too, ORY is a new destination but it is still Paris and still has a good range of onward destinations....although not as many as CDG.

Now the Welsh Government has got City Jet they need to be fully supported including the local community to let's hope the ££££ be good with new services once the market has been tested. My company for one will be using them over Easy Jet at BRS !!!

'CWL worked for bmibaby'...

Please do explain .... That is not quite what I understood.

In any case, BE axed these routes as poor performers. Cityjet is next to unheard of in Wales or anywhere outside of it's very well established and niche markets. The biggest challenge they will face is establishing there brand name, customers will have booked EZY etc ex BRS before they even realise that there is an alternative route by Cityjet ex CWL.
