Anyone know anything of his past managerial styles? Neil Pakey as he's shown is a real LCC kinda guy. How's Matthew?

Shannon Airport appoints Matthew Thomas as new chief executive

This might give an indication. All I hope is that he'll be a game changer for Shannon airport and boost the numbers to something significant. He's played with bigger budgets though so maybe a challenge ahead for him too.

Problem is that he will be CEO of the group and not just the airport. The group is primarily a property company and with strong emphasis on this side of things for the immediate future. The Chair person has already tasked the incoming CEO with improving the 47% occupancy of the rental property upwards significantly with some friends of mine working in this area already displaced to gain tenants where before their focus was on inbound work for the airport.
What is really needed is 100% leadership and development of SNN and leave the auctioneering & heritage under separate remit.

Ryanair have loaded Fue to the booking system for the winter schedule, operating on sunday mornings in addition to tfs and ace, some good news!

Shannon-Amsterdam is Skyscanner ?Unserved Route of the Week?

anna.aero counsels KLM to consider this airport pair

Significantly most demand is at the Dutch end of this route ‒ a 69/31 split ‒ suggesting that the searches not all being made by Irish citizens looking at how to get home to Limerick, but also by Dutch nationals keen to experience the Wild Atlantic Way.

I couldn't see KLM going for it, unless there was a complete breakdown of their relationship with Aer Lingus.

Maybe it could be done using the Transavia brand on a seasonal basis, although they might also route that out of Rotterdam then.

Shannon-Paris Beauvais confirmed sacked.

Disappointing, but not surprising considering the terrible TUE/SAT rotations. Can't see any other airlines entering with a Paris service, Cityjet will be wary after the horror that was ORK-LCY, but they do know of the market at Shannon-Paris, so it will be interesting to see.

Memmingen gone also for the winter just proves the point once again of how hard it is for regional airports to support mainland European services during the winter season - dint expect anyone else to take a risk as that's aer Lingus cityjet and particularly Ryanair who can't make it work with €10 one way fares - a Shame but harsh reality

Memmingen was never a year-round route and never operated in the winter, so I've no idea where you pulled that out of.

Confirmation of Beauvais sacking hit the newspapers today, unusually takes over a week to happen, but only 3 days in this case!
http://clareherald.com/2016/06/ryana...e-again-21121/

Edit: Also to mention, Cityjet made it work until LHR came back, Aer Lingus attempted it with a departure time of 16:00 and Ryanair had it profitable at 2x daily before, yet this time it was marginal due to its horrible days.

If an airline actually wants to make it work, it can work. Shannon's problem is mainly around the fact that nobody wants to threaten their DUB service. Will a 2x weekly Paris service on TUE and SAT at 11am affect DUB? No. Will a daily Paris leaving at 7am affect DUB?Yes.

Apologies an oversight on Memingen - I don't agree that that Ryanair are mindful of their Dublin service - if Ryanair could make it work they would regardless of Dublin - I think it's a harsh reality that it's not a year round service from the regions - so if city jet can't make it work due to competition at Heathrow what hope of attracting another carrier in after here failed attempts ? Genuine question what are the aspirations down there now as had they an agressive target to hit almost 2m passengers by end of next year which isn't going to happen - where do you see the growth coming from under new CEO ??

Why not schedule it MON/FRI then? AGP could easily be reallocated to another time of the week.

Without knowing but id say the yield on Malaga on those days would be a lot lot better than the yield on Paris where fares were regularly on sale for €19.99 - plus beauvais lot more expensive to operate out of !

Would they have been if the route was on MON/FRI? Keep in mind Ryanair ran this route at 2x daily before! The holiday maker market is not as sensitive to the days of operation as city travel is.

Ryanair crunch the numbers, Malaga wins. Paris has a chequered history. It gets canned. Twice daily is past history for a bygone days when the Irish economy was very different. Malaga strong route for pricing and ancillary revenue. Attracts a wide audience, including stag / hen parties, groups for golf etc etc. Be lovely to have all the rules we want but if they don't reach a certain level of profitability, they won't be long term sustainable, simple. While there might be some demand, it is competing against other routes for the investment of resource.
