Question Query: Flight routeing

Hi,
Im posting on behalf of a friend who is doing a charity walk up Machu Pichu in Peru, in 7 weeks. He is curious (so am I actually)
as to the route details of his flight.
The questions boil down to these:
How long, and, geographically, what route does an aircraft generally take when flying from Amsterdam to Lima?

Also, as his final flight "outbound" is from Lima to Cusco, he is cusious as to this flight, in terms of, which type (IE prop or jet) plane is used?

Strang questions maybe, can anyone help?

Can't help with the AMS-LIM bit However, I did fly a couple of weeks ago between LIM & CUZ on a TANS 737-200. I think LAN also fly the route using A320.

The AMS-LIM bit will probably head over the bay of biscay and straight over the atlantic probably just north of the azores (no airways, so airlines can pick best route) Probably just clip venezuala and down through colombia, though not sure what the airways are like in this neck of the woods so it might not be the shortest route at the far end.

Thanks both. On the same issue, does it matter if a jet is used as upposed to a prop at CUZ, with it being at such a high altitude?

Am I right in assuming that, a jet would need to fly faster than normal when landing there, and would take longer to gain a take-off speed than at lower altitiudes?

So I suppose what Im asking is: is a prop affected in the same way as a jet at High altitude airports?
