4 posts in the past day all about Emerald. You must get out more flykiller

That's the first rumour I've heard about financial trouble at Emerald. Last I heard they were making £2millionish profits on turnover of £14millionish. Not surprising the pittance they pay their staff.

Although flying empty ATPs to IOM and back to LPL may not help their figures.

Sounds like a malicious rumour to me.

Anyway are you dada in drag? If so I've just bitten.

Whilst I have no connections with Emerald (or any other airline, save for a couple of friends at a few) I think the header for this subject and comments like "rumours abound" in relation to any carrier can be very damaging, not to say distressing for all those that work there or have other connections.
Surely posters should be able to back up these "rumours" etc with some sort of evidence? After all if you print these rumours then be prepared to back them up or expect a letter from messers Sue, Grabbitt and Runn...
Whilst I accept that this is a rumours forum I feel there is a genuine need for posters to be fairly confident of their sources - its not always easy to retract after the damage has been caused.

Just where do people get these crazy rumours from?? It doesn't take a lot of initiative to find out that they've done incredibly well on their new passenger route from Liverpool to Isle of Man. In the first month of full operation the figures published by IOM Airport show them carrying more passengers than Euromanx on the IOM LPL route. How many new airlines can boast to outcarry a competitor this quickly!!!

And what about all these new freighter contracts that they have picked up all round Europe!!

I've actually heard the opposite to this rumour - that they are so pleased with the performance that a couple more passenger ATP's will soon be flying new routes.

Think you've got the wrong airline flying in and out of IOM, try Euromanx in financial difficulty!

Angel

Heard a rumour a few months back that they were evaluating BHD - LPL - presumably they'll need to develop their route network rather than rely on a single passenger service! Has anyone heard anything?

Do know that they are looking at several routes out of Liverpool, both domestic and international, but BHD was not one of them.

Whatever they choose, they will be looking to start at least one of them before the end of the year.

Flykiller,

We could really do without this, you know! Those of us that work foe Emerald have enough problems without wild, groundless rumours like this being started.

As usual, lots of work, busy times - not what you would associate with financial problems, although we believe the ATP's cost a bit.

Not really in financial troble, from what I hear, it's more to do with getting a tranche of payments owed from the bank.

ATP's are behind schedule, but the sheds and 748's are making money hand over fist.

If anything is going to get Emerald, it's the apalling relationship between management and crews/engineers. Many are totally fed up and looking for a quick exit. Long term this can only hurt the company, but both sides are up for a totally unproductive fight which now seems inevitable.
A real shame since Emerald could be a brilliant company, but unfortunately due to one individual it will remain a tin-pot operation.

Bottom Feeder, just so you can get your facts right, Emeralds turnover is in excess of £30+ million a year, and the profit margin is high, not bad really. In reply to the so called poor pax figures on the ATP, again you are wrong, what started of slowly has now built into a good route for Emerald with most flights having sold 70% - 100% of the seats, and more ATP's in both pax and freight are due, 12 in total to date.

Say Again slowly,

Could'nt have put it any better. That perfectly sums things up.

Other airlines works thier crews just as hard but have a better relationship with them. At least they get paid in full on time and have some BALPA assistance.

Emerald could be a fantastic company and with over 30 aircraft, is now quite a large one. Its just that you need managers who are allowed to manage!

agree with some of the above

emerald will never be anything whilst it has its current mangement? team in place

shame as it could be a good place

most employees get along in a friendly way but morale is now falling away very rapidly

a lot of staff just want out now!!
