New routes for BRS's winter charter timetable
Brs new Winter charter destination timetable has been released.
New for this winter is:-
Summer sun
Egypt (Sharm El Sheikh)
Ski Destinations
Grenoble
Plovdiv
City day trips:-
Orca safari to Evenes (Norway)
Gothenburg
Salzburg (xmas market)
Krakov
Vienna (xmas market)

easyJet are rumoured to be adding another based aircraft (making seven) and suggested additional routes have ranged from Geneva, Madrid (one poster suggested it will replace Bilbao), Paris (would there be slot difficulties with Orly?) and Ljubljiana. If there is another easy 737 coming I guess you could theorise all night on possible destinations.
As for the UK, most routes seem to be covered now that ABZ is coming back. The only one that isn't is LBA which has been tried in the past but never apparently been a success.
Why this is I don't know because if 20,000 can travel each month between BRS and NCL you would think there would be enough pax to at least make a turboprop worthwhile between BRS and LBA. After all, both cities are major financial centres and there must also be scope for at least small amounts of leisure traffic in both directions as well.
The airport management also goes on about NWI but I really wonder whether there would be much call for that one.

Well MV its is funny you should say Norwich because after a direct london service NWI is the most asked about service.
I think that if Eastern's BRS/ABZ route is succesfull they might look at putting on a BRS/NWI on their 29 seater jet stream.
Personally I think they could fill it at least once a day.
Anyone from NWI think the route could work?
I would like to see a LBA service as my family are from yorkshire and i'd much rather fly than drive!

BRS-NWI? Interesting thought guys...
Anyone who's had to travel in that direction by car or train would agree that it's not the easiest of journeys.
My only reservation is that a airline such as Eastern would weigh up routes in terms of constancy/profitability and BRS/ABZ and BRS/IOM are both tried and tested by others.
On the other hand, they are called 'Eastern' airways.....

BRS - LBA has had a number of operators over the years, Dan-Air
with a 748, Metropolitan with a shed, Brown Air/Capital with a G1 then a shed, Gill with, yup, a shed and most recently BACX with a J41. The latter two operators couldn't make it last, probably down to timings. Dan-Air seemed to do all right but the route included Cardiff and went on north to Glasgow so there was probably a lot of through traffic (good old Link-City!).
I'm sure a small aircraft with a useful timetable (i.e early morning and late afternoon rotations) could make a go of it. Eastern (and BACX and Capital_before) seem to be OK with Southampton after all.

easy jet have just announced another new route from bristol starting on Nov 3rd to valencia. This to go with the other new routes this winter Geneva/Rome/Budapest and Madrid.
Looks like its gonna be a busy winter at Brs this year

Weve had HCY do LCLK before....interesting that it may restart:-).
All this news about new EZY flights is interesting news to my ears too, aint heard owt about Valencia before, along with otheres mentioned in this post. Only heard about Rome, Madrid, Budapest and Geneva. Anyone know if anymore A319's will be flown in?

I guess you mean any more easyJet 319s because BRS does have a daily 319 from Berlin operated by a SXF based a/c- I had the pleasure of flying on this route in July.

The easyJet winter timetable as currently published cannot operate without seven aircraft overnighting at BRS. Weekdays are as follows:
0630 to AGP, 0640 to ALC, 0650 to PMI (Tu and Th), 0700 to EDI, 0710 to GLA, 0720 to BUD, 0730 to NCE (M W F) and 0750 to PRG.
There are two other early morning departures as well - to BFS at 0830 and to NCL at 0835 but these are operated by BFS and NCL based a/c respectively that flew the inbound legs first.
In the late evenings there are seven arrivals and these a/c are not shown to operate anywhere else after they land, viz:
2150 from GLA, 2205 from EDI, 2215 from CIA, 2230 from FAO, 2245 from MAD, 2255 from AGP and 2305 from ALC.

The 7th aircraft to be based at BRS by EZY arrives in early November. I believe the airport management work to a plan of 10 easyJet aircraft - whether this is the companies view is anyones guess. They'll need that ground frequency open in the mornings if it does happen though..

BRS website announces that the weekly Gambia flight is to commence earlier this winter - from 8 October. Furthermore, there will be two weekly flights from 21 December for the remainder of the winter giving more flexibility over lengths of holidays (ie 10 or 11 day holidays will be possible).
Don't know whether the flights will commence at GLA or MAN as in previous years or who is/are the carrier (s).
I think it was Astraeus last winter with a B 737-700, but I seem to recall Air 2000 (now First Choice Air of course) using 757s in the past.

Astraeus will be operating BRS-BJL this winter with 737-700 a/c. Primarily the MAN based 73G. In other news, Astraeus are now flying to Aqaba in Jordan from LGW, and also to Simferopol in the Crimea. The winter schedule will include a return to Sharm El Sheik and Aswan. Also, flights to Deer Lake in Newfoundland to service the Humber Vally resort will commence shortly.
