SA ATC on Carte Blanche -Mnet

Tonight on Mnet , Carte Blanche's Derek Watts put on a in-depth program about SA ATC .
Have a look at www.carteblanche.co.za

It was more or less a repeat of the program they had in 1994 or was it 1996?? Just different managers and different ATCs, otherwise everythings the same. Oh yes, except for the new equipment they've bought which is staff intensive. :confused:

The controllers at ATNS are not happy with the plans of ATNS management to "import" foreigners from Sweden (8 controllers) at a price of between R3.5m and R5m. (Sunday Crimes of Sunday 9th of March).

The question is why import foreigner if you can pay your own controllers more, and keep them rather to lose them to the Middle East?

The closing question in the programme was far to subjective to be seriously considered objective journalism.

It went something along the lines of;

" Have you ever felt unsafe whilst travelling as a passenger in SA airspace"

OK, it's not a direct quote, sorry Derek, but how the heck is any pax able to truly assess any compromise of aviation safety?

Thoughts anyone?
