WFP Flights

Hi there,

Does anyone have any advice or names of airlines currently doing flying for the WFP or UN into/from Somalia, Yemen, and Sudan, etc? I was informed by a friend working in Sudan that the WFP operates flights from there, and had job openings for people willing to fly into these locations(or logistic jobs, dispatch, etc) but without any luck. I'm from the region, I know the local languages and I have an EASA flight license so I was wondering if there was any chance of working with them or are they restricted to each company's nationality e.g SA-based companies restricting it to SA nationals only.

I tried going through the search option here but all the posts are very outdated and many things have changed since then. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi,

It's mostly Kenyan (ALS, etc.), or South African (Air-Tec, Solenta, etc.) companies. As far as i know ALL of them require experience on type (B190, L410, DHC8, etc.) and MOST of them also require the relevant license (SA, or Kenyan CPL/ATPL) and in SOME cases, especially flying in and out of their countries of origin, the right to live and work permits. But this latter is rarely the case. Basically if you're typed and experienced, holding the right license you can get a job with them.

Knowing local languages bares little or no relevance if you're flying however for any ground based position it definitely helps.

Cheers
