just heard from someone grounded at the coast that HKJK has gone down... no services, no radar, no ATC. Planes being held on ground as there is no services at Nairobi.

Anyone heard any reason why??

update: it’s a Kenya wide-radar outage, not ATC

This isn’t the first time this has happened. We usually just land and taxi off after self reporting to other aircraft. I’ve had the radar go out at Jomo and the electricity go out, thus cutting off tower and approach radios. The same people that manage the airspace, managed the fire at the airport. A lot of duty free booze was enjoyed in back alley bars for months after that fiasco.
