707 Hulk at Port Harcourt

Can anyone please advise if this aircraft is still present at Port Harcourt? If it has been broken up, an approximate date would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to give you an approximate date. However, I know it had been broken up by October 2008.

L.E.

Many thanks. That is most helpful.

It's definitely gone. I watched it being gas axed.

NEO that should have been a memorable experience. Was it? ;)

Frankly it was in a pretty forlorn state by then; moss etc, not looking very nice.

NEO

Do you remember approximately when it was broken up?

Sometime in 2011 IIRC.

Thanks NEO

Post #2 reckons it was gone by October 2008.

Earlier than 2008.

Just looked on Google Earth.

On the 24th December 2003,all 3 aircraft are there (707,and the 2 x BAC-111's).
On the next image available (26th December,2007) all 3 aircraft are gone.

May have been before 2010, to be fair it wasn't top of my list of things to remember at the time. Very surprised to read it was gone before 2007 though. I was working off the GA ramp (which was right next to the hulks) then.

Thanks TWT for that excellent detective work. I hadn't realised how useful the historical imagery can be. Based on a physical sighting on 16 April 2005, the aircraft must have been broken up sometime between 16 April 2005 and 26 December 2007. Given NEO's sighting of it being broken up, there can be no doubt that it's gone. Thanks everyone for your input.
