I hear FO positions are only offered to the locals.

727-2F9 9th Dec 2014 08:03

Thumbs up, local F/Os

Yes, that's the way it should be. You develop local talent and don't allow yourselves to become a dumping ground for all comers like they do in Nigeria

YOUR WAYS OF THINKING IS NEGATIVE

Hello,

I would like to let you know that what you know about Fastjet is wrong , the company gives sponsorship for the Type rating to the Local Pilot whom were selected to join the fleet as FO's initially when they started operating in Tanzania, this business jets are run by the British and behind there are some other British people who take the advantage of that, it worse to say,'' This company doesn't really mean to help the local ones , because of LINE TRAINING yes it is, and that is what i am telling you, one of the UK flight school already run this business with Fastjet, the Academy known as CTC is one of them, they bring Fist Officers who do the line training with the company and when the Local Pilots who are willing to join the fleet even with their self sponsorship for Type Rating they are told to wait or to fly Caravan they claim that they give sponsorship which is not really for the help, as for the far movement we hope after NEXT year the movement 4 change will take control of these stupid kind of Neo-Colonialism as long as there is no kINGDOM in this world that have manage to Rule forever, hope this will come to an end too

daladaladriver 9th Dec 2014 14:44

So you are saying freshly minted 250tt Euro pilots with just a rating, no time on type, are getting into fastjet FO slots for some pay2fly 500 hours program? How is immigration and the pilot association not cracking down on this??

I do not think so, but i am sure of what i wrote, when i left i saw some students i knew them from CTC, may be you need some proves? :ok:

daladaladriver 11th Dec 2014 03:55

Some "proof" would be nice. I'm not so sure about what you write... i remember you mentioned mosswood flying school had american instructors and a multi engine trainer... they don't have either btw... never did

am confused? What? what?

mohammed_AL_aziz 11th Dec 2014 08:45

haven't heard of any 250 hour guys getting FO jobs, I'm sure insurance won't cover that anyway. Most of FO slots been taken by experienced Tanzanians from Precision / ATC / 540

LY-MML 11th Dec 2014 09:24

Come down

Things are straight forward and well known, just ask your self why the job is announced and recruitment process is taking place here in London, but the successful Captain is going to work with Fastjet I am still wander := are these people know the rules and regulations of Immigration and working permits for foreign pilots in Tanzania:ugh: The problem of Tanzania is corruption

Do not confuse the last thread about Mosswood and what i wrote here, In that previous thread i wrote about Mosswood because i visited their Academy two years ago before i left for my training and all the information i provided about Mosswood i got from those two white instructors i found them there, at that time they were offering PPL only but their mult engine was already arrive and they had some plans for further expansion to CPL/ME training, maybe you got me wrong in that thread, but whether you agree or disagree with what i wrote but i am sure of anything i write in this forum

daladaladriver 11th Dec 2014 10:55

Seems to me Fastjet knows what it is doing. I'm not too sure about Precision / Air Tanzania... that's where the corruption lies my friend... locals businesses... with local workers. This neocolonialism you speak of doesn't exist in the aviation sector in TZ... but oil/gas, that's a whole different story. Not enough experienced local talent means we find it elsewhere. I'm sure Fastjet would love to upgrade it's local FOs to Captain, that makes them look good remember. And maybe they have already done so, but right now, they might just be short of upgradeable candidates so they must look out of country. Fastjet has ties to Easyjet UK, so it only makes sense that they recruit up there. When they ask for minimum 500 hours as PIC on the A320, i can only imagine that Immigration would have a hard time denying a work permit when no such qualifications are available locally. So there's no hiring conspiracy at Fastjet like you point out. Give it some time and you'll see mainly Tanzanian pilots flying for Fastjet. And those two white instructors you spoke too, they aren't american... easy mistake though. I'm sure you were sure they are americans... and that's all that matters... as long as you are sure you are right... right? WRONG

Anyway,

Some how you convince me on that, but i think you know more and you have good experience about Tanzania aviation :D, i am highly motivated with less experience, thank you for the nice reply cheers:ok:

254HEAVY 13th Dec 2014 07:26

i know of 1 local who is a skipper for the outfit.

daladaladriver 16th Dec 2014 19:24

I have had a good experience with Tanzania Aviation, but apart from that, Dar es Salaam is truly a slum. I hope the pay for Fastjet expats is damn good cause this place stinks... literally and metaphorically

austra1998 17th Dec 2014 08:15

bongo is a great place. it stinks cause you smelling the rotten brain inside your skull. time to leave, i have seen a million guys like you staying in dar and complaining every single day. just go somewhere else. its so damn easy.

LY-MML 17th Dec 2014 10:53

For foreign pilot it is advised to stay in the city center and to avoid walking alone especially during the night, that's all:ok:

daladaladriver 17th Dec 2014 14:28

You from Italy Austra? That makes sense... 3rd world Europe so you fit right in to Bongoland. My brain... yeah I honestly feel like i've lost a dozen IQ points living here for a few years. This place has its charm... but it eventually wears off. Then you simply see lots of annoying stupidity. It's been fun overall but I am indeed counting down the days to my final departure. Luckily I don't have to type rate myself for my next job.

Valmont 18th Dec 2014 22:12

Does anyone have up to date informations about Fastjet ?
