South african ATP

Hi fellow aviators
I'm currently flying B767 coming from the 737NG with around 2200 TT on which 1900 are on the NG.My SA CPL has expired since 2009 and i would like to renew it so that i can seat for the ATP exams.I'm aware that i need to rewrite airlaw. But can anyone tell me which area of the airlaw i should concentrate more on?as for the ATP i was told that it all changed at the CAA the database is fully EASA.I'll do all the studies on my own but surely in between flying it isn't the easiest thing to do,anybody who can suggest me an appropriate method to study in order to nail all those papers down? Thanks in advance

You were hired into a Boeing 747 with 300hrs!!?

This part of the world i come from a 250 hours CPL goes directly to a B737 NG with no problems,it teally isn't a mysthery

There are other parts of the world like that too (and it's not P2F). Definitely possible.

That's scary :ooh:

Ether way, good luck

With a 60 month lapse of license, you must redo everything, not only law; that is if your PPL is also no longer valid for more than 60 months.

300h is a teeny little too little:ooh:

@ chris opperman,i have my country's CPL valid which i still use to fly even being current in flying i still have to resit all the papers for CPL?

I think, tedious as it may be, that you need to read Part 61 carefully.
I think too that EASA rules recently extended the expiration deadline from five years (60 months) from expiration of rating to seven years (84 months). Certainly that works in terms of renewing what was a JAR/OPS IR. It may be that there is a subsequent Notam in SA extending the period down there.

Air Law is now a little amplified in coverage and has become Air Law and Flight Procedures. There are several flight school that produce notes for self study.
It's trickier than the old Air Law though.
Otherwise, if you've held a valid commercial licence outside SA you can write to the director submitting certified copies of logbooks, licences, checks and a motivating letter explaining why you should be exempted form a rewrite of the usual com subjects. This might be successful but is likely to take time.
Not sure if the information above is 100% accurate or up to date but hope it helps or attracts comments from those more on the ground than I.
