Maiduguri, Nigeria

Anybody flying regularly into Maiduguri recently? Is it ok for Oyibo pilots to land and refuel, just staying within the airfield? And is fuel still available? Grateful for any up to date information. Tx

Thanks. Are Arik or any other commercial operators still going there? Or is the airport closed?

Maiduguri

I was in Maiduguri for a weeks or so a couple of months ago. We drove in from Gombe, which was intense. We were told the airport was closed to civil traffic, except for the Governor's aircraft and similar high level pols. There's a half-way decent hotel, the SATUS Hotel, but it's the other end of town. Atmosphere is pretty tense, lots of security personnel around. But if you get permission to fly in, I reckon you'd be fine to refuel and do a turn-around.
