Hotel at Lagos Airport

Can anyone recommend ( if that's the right word ! ) a safe hotel near to Lagos airport for a nightstop next week. Many thanks.

Lagos Hotel

Your best bet would be The Sheraton in Ikeja or The Protea on Issac John Street also in Ikeja.

Neither are at the airport so you would have to arrange a pick up via the hotel from the airport. I haven't been to Lagos for just over a year so there may be some slight changes.

Other than that pay the extra and stick with recognised brands to save yourself plenty stress?

PM for any other info!

Many thanks. Probably going to book the Sheraton.

Both across the road from each other. Sheraton is more sociable with a nice pool area. However, the Protea is a more modern hotel with nice rooms and comfortable beds. I'm posting this from my room in the Protea :ok:

There are actually 2 Protea Hotels, and the smaller one at Leadway is nice and friendly with good food and a quiet location. I think the pool area and the tiki hut style poolside bar at the Sheraton is n icer, but food at the Protea Ikeja is better and the hotel is much more modern.
The Westown Hotel, behind the Sheraton is not too bad, though the rooms are a bit small. However, you can walk there from the Sheraton (not advised at night) and their rooftop restaurant, next to the small swimming pool has nice views and serves reasonable Thai and Chinese food.
Heading over the other way, there are 2 hotels, The Ibis Lagos Airport Hotel is okay for a couple of nights, though a bit soul-less. If you want really close to the airport there's the Blue Lodge Guest House, right on Murtala Mohammed Way, next to the Catholic Church (which was originally built for visitors to the church). It's a small boutique hotel and literally only about a 2 minute drive from the airport.
Also on the GRA in Ikeja, in the same street as the Protea, is the Savoy Suites. It's quite small and tends to go up and down a bit. House J on GRA used to be quite nice, though I haven't visited there for a while.
The Welcome Centre Hotel is also quite close to the airport, almost opposite the Ibis and with friendly staff.
Overall, I'd go for one of the hotels on or near the Ikeja GRA, either of the Proteas or the Sheraton and there are plenty of places nearby on the GRA for alternative eating or drinking, though, like most places frequented by expats they tend to be quite expensive.

Sheraton is ok...enjoy a Star in Goodies and try to give the night fighters the slip if you wander into The Club!!! Normally a good mix of crews slipping in the hotel. Swimming pool a bit noisy with the hotel genny chugging away and the Chinese over the wall is allegedly the scene of the Great Virgin Holdup ...( or was it BA)?? Was some time ago

Brr. Sheraton Lagos is a old and a bit scrappy place(for a standard Sheraton). And very expensive. The Protea(either one) would have been the better choice.

OR - with a 1 hour drive - the Sheraton 4 Points on Victoria Island. The best hotel I ever used in Lagos.

Good luck with all the Nutbags on 127,3 - Lagos Radar ;)
