Info on Abidjan-Yaounde-Bangui-Juba-Addis
I have a trip from Abidjan to Addis Ababa in a Do228 coming up. Looking for information on Yaounde and Bangui as a possible stops (fuel. wx, nav aids, alternates) How is Bongui for a night stop - hotels, visa requirements ( I will have 2 non pilots on board)?
Thanks. |
Hi,
Both Bangui and Yaounde are pretty well equipped airports with Menzies Aviation doing the handling. Due to my previous experience i would get someone in Bangui to guard (talk to the operators based there like Air-Tec flying ICRC and WFP, or Ariva and Minair) the aircraft overnight due to fuel is "evaporating" rather quick in that part of the World especially at night... Not too sure about the visas: i always had it prior arrival and it's also depending on your and your passenger's nationality based on bilateral agreements between the countries. Hotels are crap and expensive: try Obangui Hotel (probably the most acceptable), or Hotel du Centre (make sure you only accept the room after checking out the sheets...) and Azimuth. Cheers |
Thanks Booze

Yaounde is a better bet.
Bangui hotels are bad. |
Juba HSSJ
Remember Juba is daylight ops only.
ATC can be difficult, Ensure you exit at Bravo or Charlie as Alfa and Delta are not good surfaces Fuel Available from Dalbit, APCL, Finejet Accommodation available, suggest Arkel or Link probably $ 120 / There are no handling agents as such so suggest you get the hotel to collect you from the car-park. Gen Dec may not be accepted so be prepared to buy visas on arrival at $100 Happy landings ! |
