How to get a Job in Nigeria with Low Hrs

Hello guyz, am a fresh CPL holder, actually gotten in May. I am back in Lagos and have completed all the necessary convertions and need a job ASAP.

I would appreciate any advice or help in getting somewia to fly.

I don't have any type rating and currently can't afford it.

Thanks

First learn how to spell then we talk about your CV. Then we in bidness. Capiche :}

Evanelpus 31st Oct 2012 21:28

You asked for that Ozotz. ;)

ozotz 1st Nov 2012 21:28

Thanks Northbeach, I would take to your advice even though I have tried with the major airlines. I would now do more research and find out all the aviation companies both commercial and private and use the technique given.

I would update you on progress.

Thanks once again

To nch334, Evanelpus, chulmleigh:

If you lot don't have any positive contribution or assistance for the young chap seeking guidance from people he looks up to, then please shut your big fat traps by using super glue to keep your wandering fingers stuck in your mouth!:ugh::=:oh:

To Northbeach:

Many thanks for being an inspiration to ozotz, more peope like you are needed on this forum because this industry will continue to witness significant growth over the coming years and many young entrants like ozotz will need guidance; so, please don't be discouraged by the nitwits who think this is a spelling forum. Keep helping out!:D

To ozotz:

If i were to send you any information, Northbeach has really said most of it except that you will need a large dose of the 'patience' drug considering your experience level. Also, neither you nor others in your position should feel scared of the nitwits on this forum or anywhere else who try to put people off getting settled.

With Nigeria, someone contacted me last week, luckily for him, he has the classic and NG types on the 737 but still can't get a job, he's in touch with the 2 main operators still alive. So, i suggest you do likewise and pray that when the time comes, you will get your shot.

Due to the collapse of Air Nigeria, there are lots of experienced hands out there primed to fill any holes for the existing operators, this can make it difficult for people like you but please don't despair.

I hear there are some private startups coming up and the government is also looking to startup another airline from the information that's widely out there, so try to keep yourself busy anyhow, remain positive and listen out for what's happening locally.

Happy Landings

Northbeach

You are absolutely right in your post.
The way you think, talk and act gives you the right to be a reliable aviator
and most important to be still in aviation.
Take care.

Cheers

NaijaNinja 2nd Nov 2012 22:01

Don't go

Hello Northbeach,

Please, don't make that your last post, you will simply let the 'nitwits' win. Imagine terrorists winning when they have their demands mets.

Who knows, you might have extra words of wisdom or stories to share with the young ones. There's a guy on this forum (Chuks), he's always got a story of his time in Africa, so please post as much as you like. We all learn new things everyday and am sure you have lots to share.

:ok: to Northbeach

The point nch334 was trying to make is valid. It won't matter if you have thousands of hours, if you send an application using the type of spelling and grammar that was used in the Op's post, you won't get a job at all.......or maybe you will in Nigeria.

fat trap suitable shut now:ok:

I.R.PIRATE 5th Nov 2012 11:30

Don't you mean, 'suitably' shut?

Evanelpus 5th Nov 2012 11:36

Nah, written in OP original post speak, hence the thumbs up. Maybe I was being too clever for my own good.:ugh:

I.R.PIRATE 5th Nov 2012 11:48

I'm just raggin ya anyway - I agree about the mind-numbing quality of the written word these days.

One bounce to the trash-can for a resume full of lazy errors.

any help would be appreciated, there isn't much I can find online apart from the company website.

Given that this is probably a scam (not my deduction, a previous posters comment) I would worry about what information you have provided to them. Didn't give them your bank details by any chance?:ugh:

Gabosa

They sent me a contract and letter of employment! All very impressive.
tHEY SAID THEY HAD a330/b747/b737 but not on N5 reg.????Chief pilot was in US on business.
Then they told me I had to go to a local agent which required usd 350 money order!

They emailed back saying that they had checked with recruitment and it was all genuine. I should send the usd350.
These people are getting very good until it comes down to real technical info so watch out.

Ghost_Rider737 12th Nov 2012 07:42

Does anything in Nigeria happen legitimately ? :ugh:

BALEWA 13th Nov 2012 13:32

I know, amazing isn't it Flexibleresponse.....take a look at me....nearly twenty years of scamming my way through this industry and very successful as a matter of fact. Even with my superior intelligence but low moral due to hunger...... 148 million scammers that's what your superior intelligence tells you eh....

At least going by my superior intelligence we still haven't broken the world's records of scams according to superior world reports. But hopefully soon and believe me it would be more than a global recession or melt down.

Superior intelligence.......

ediks 13th Nov 2012 20:26

Flexible response

Balewa, he seems to have something against Nigerians but you and I both know that there are plenty of lovely and worthy people in our country.
I'm not going to dignify his rubbish with a direct response, best to ignore him I think.

FlexibleResponse 14th Nov 2012 13:28

Thank you BALEWA and ediks,

You have demonstrated the folly of generalizing with your considerate and civil replies. I have removed the post with my ill-considered comment.

ediks 14th Nov 2012 14:13

Thank You

Thank You for that, I know yours is a tongue in cheek statement regarding our responses to what you said but it was very unfair to accuse us all the way you did.
Regards and safe flying to you also!

DragRequired 14th Nov 2012 22:34

Let daddy help you

Come out of flight school with no flying experience. Your daddy is the head of training for 737 fleet at Arik.....he gets Arik to bend all the rules pay for your CRJ 900 type rating,:D and then gets a waiver from NCAA emitting the requirement for expats to have 500 on type.:ok: Presto you have got a job.....but unfortunately everyone's daddy is not the 737 head of training at Arik.....:{Sorry dude life's tough

seper 15th Nov 2012 05:24

wasn't aware NCAA required time on type for expats, are you sure?If this is so it has NEVER been enforced in other airlines.

Drag required,i feel you,but remember which Father, would not pull all strings to help son get employment

NIJASEA 15th Nov 2012 07:05

We cant chastise a father for helping his son, but we can wonder where all the local managers were when locals with type come knocking at the door and they say we want experienced crew as there is a possibility you might not make the line training or it might take longer to check the individual out. Guess we are our own worst enemies... fly safe guys/gals

aimtofly 15th Nov 2012 20:06

then gets a waiver from NCAA emitting the requirement for expats to have 500 on type

m sure u meant omitting and NCAA certainly does not have such requirement yet....:=

clearprop82 22nd Nov 2012 19:21

DragRequired

before you speak you must get some facts straight. The company did not pay for his type, he got it himself. So what is the problem if he brought his son? We would all do the same for our own.

I got a similar offer, even called me in PNG from an actual Nigerian phone (+234 caller ID). They hacked into the Aviationjobsearch data base and got my details. Man these guys are getting good!

ozotz 26th Nov 2013 08:23

Got an Offer finally

I would like to thank everyone for there support and encouragement, especially Northbeach and NaijaNinja.

I have been offered a place with one of the top airlines in Nigeria after staying home for one year and six months.

I took all advices both positive and negative and finally after much wait I have gotten the much elusive first job.

I really Thank GOD for everything!!!

exeng 27th Nov 2013 23:42

Why would you thank 'GOD' for everything?

When you:

I would like to thank everyone for there support and encouragement, especially Northbeach and NaijaNinja.
I wish you all the best for the future my friend. However it might be worth remembering that in aviation (as with all other things in life) the outcome has little to do with imaginary friends and has everything to do with skills, ability and training.

Princess Stella would disagree I'm sure, reference her comments regarding the recent awful loss of life in the Associated accident departing LOS. That, she said, was an act of her own imaginary friend - some friend. And why would this friend do that? The shared friend you have thanked in helping you get a job with Arik also decided to snuff out a few innocent lives - logical?

Anyway all the best.

Kind regards
Exeng
