Precision Air

Hi there,
I applied to Precision Air but no reply. Any news about them? Thks.

ZFT 4th Jun 2012 09:42

Yes, they don't pay their bills

CharlieVictorSierra 4th Jun 2012 09:53

Do you honestly expect operators such as this, who no-doubt receive hundreds of applications/CV's monthly, to reply to you?

Air Precision

If they don't replay, why do they ask for crews?
Doesn't make any sense.

petit prince 4th Jun 2012 11:46

Yes. Since I am an ATR Captain and TRI, I expected them to reply.

odericko2000 7th Jun 2012 12:28

They are no longer interested in guyz from Europe, they trained and gave ratings to a couple sometime back, when the guyz got the ratings and turbine time they left the company high and dry, no notice to resign, just bolted out and never came back, even East Africans and Tanzanians have to pay for their own ratings now

Soap Box Cowboy 7th Jun 2012 17:11

No European was ever given a rating in this company, everyone has had to pay for their rating. :=

And no one just bolted either. Everyone gave in their period of notice.

And most people, local or foreign consider leaving or have left by the time they have done 2-4 years in the company.

There is a large turn over in companies in East Africa as a whole.

They want an all African airline. Since those guys are working at home and more likely to stay. Recently they have been sponsoring a cadet program for local pilots and mechanics. For 20 to 30 years there has not really been any government sponsored training and flight school is well beyond reach of almost all Tanzanians.

odericko2000 8th Jun 2012 01:23

Well thats what i heard from my pals who are there, and you might want to cross check that, im pretty sure guyz who got in earlier around 2008 were trained at the company's expense, i had non TZ colleagues who joined and were rated by the company, i believe they were just bonded for a specific period, but now everyone who isn't Tanzanian is paying for their own type rating.

And just to correct you, Precision Air does not have a cadet sponsorship program, it is actually the Tanzanian Government that has been training and sponsoring the locals upto CPL through TCA. I know because the second class in 2005 were my PPL batch mates in South Africa, majority of them end up being scooped up by Precision since it is the biggest operator in Tanzania

Soap Box Cowboy 8th Jun 2012 07:03

No one in 2008 was trained at the company's expense. Foreigners had to pay up front, locals got salary deductions after one year.

Precision Air

I applied for the B737 captain's position a couple of months ago and
no replay yet.Is it a normal procedure for taking so long for them to replay
or they never do?
Is there any other email beside the official one for reminding them for any
forgotten replay?

Precision Air (indecision air)

To all applying to Precision Air, especially expats. Some expats have been lucky to get in as FO's, and only with type ratings. Don't think I've seen an expat in the left seat there. All expats must be type rated. FO salary is crap, and you will fly with some cowboy captains for sure.
@Petit - good luck there. Rather try other ATR operators. Like Solenta in South Africa.

If you saw the flying skills demonstrated by the captains of Precision Air, that I have seen, you will run the other way. Landing on runways opposite to traffic flow, ignoring ATC instructions, landing with 20 kt tailwinds on wet runways and stopping 100 m short of the end of the runway at Mwanza, because the 737 crew are too lazy to do a circuit, or procedure turn. Near misses daily with these idiots, who lie about their position, distances and eta's, just to be given priority over other traffic. and lets not talk about them canceling flights all the time, no ticket refunds. They are also known to depart 30 min to 2 hours early . . screw the schedule, the plane is needed somewhere else. Also leave bags behind in Nairobi a lot, cause the crew couldn't be bothered to refuel and maximize payload.

Good luck, I wouldn't fly for them if they paid my rating . . just my personal view on them.

One or 2 expat pilots, paid there ratings, got some hours, and are now in a better place i.e. Qatar and corporate jobs. . .
