Job Hunting in Botswana, Namibia or Tanzania?
 

Hello Guys! :)

I'm going to South Africa mid February to do a Caravan Rating and a Baron. Then I'm planning to do a job hunting nearby. I will surele go to Zambia try to get a job at Proflight as I have a friend flying there and with these 2 ratings, he advised me to come and visit. I'm now very close to 500 hours with a Multi engine with IR. I've done most of my hours on a Cessna 182 dropping skydivers.

I would like to go as well in Botswana, Namibia and Tanzania. But as I might be short on money, I might not be able to do all these countries. Where would you advise me to go first with my actual "qualification"?

My first choice after Zambia was Botswana as there are a couple of interesting companies as Mack Air using Caravan and it's very close to Zambia. But I've heard that there are more oportunities in Tanzania than in Botswana. So I'm a bit lost on my planning as I can't decide where to go.:}

Any advices would be great!

Why are you going to Zambia?

You need 1000 hours and over to get onto a van in Tanzania, single pilot operation out here. And there are no barons in the country. With your hours you would most likely end up on a 206, no previous rating required.

Dont forget the 100+hrs of "line training" on the 206.
Been a while since i was there, but i think TZ can be funny about moving ratings over, maybe they have changed and improved, but first of all you have to get past Madam Zawadi!

@Darkroomsource. Air Mauritius is hiring but only on the Airbus unfortunalety and I'm far to have the minimum requirements. :}

I'm going to Zambia, cause I know a guy working there who can help me in my job research.

@Soap Box Cowboy: Thx for the information. I don't mind starting on a 206 actually. But the 1000 hours things applies as well in Botswana and Namibia?

Ah Zawadi ain't too bad, there is no transfer of ratings here really, well not for anything under 12500, Seems a wast of money to get a rating on anything under 12500, better save your money and buy some aircraft manuals and familiarise yourself with the airplanes.

Oh yeah TTR's here are written by former Egineers, so expect funny questions that are not found in the pilot manual, or sometimes even the maintenance manual.
