Foreign in South Africa

Is there a good chance of a pilot like myself with FAA certificates getting hired in South Africa? Aside from South Africa, Australia and New Zealand are the countries that I'm looking into to try to move to and fly for a living.

Insufficient information.

What experience do you have on what types.
Converting to an SA licence is not difficult but you will need the appropriate experience on type to be hired by someone who happens to be hiring at the time.

Forget about New Zealand, the aviation market is just like the DODO (non existant). Australia has more options. Good luck

You will not get hired in South Africa unless you have a highly sort after skill set , to get a work permit is a challenge.

I'm wanting to broaden my horizons and move abroad somewhere. I have a Single and Multi-Engine commercial, Flight Instructor Airplane and Instrument working towards 500 Total Time and my Airframe & Powerplant mechanic certificate. Have a Bachelors in Aviation Flight Technology and working on a 2 year Biology degree. I appreciate the replies gents.

jsfboat,

I would forget about looking at South Africa for a flying job. Try Botswana or Namibia-actually even some of the South African 'okes' are flying in these two countries as they can't get a job back home either!

Australia might be another option but never been there. Does anyone know if it is still possible to get a job such as flying a BN Islander in places such as Fiji, Belize or Caribbean?

A Cessna Caravan rating may help but it's more money of course, however, I would still be interested what other pilots have to say.
