Maybe peppersoup should come out and tell us more about the rumours he mentioned.

If selling tickets at low prices is an indication of doom, then Ryanair & Southwest should have been buried eons ago. Aero's low fare campaign is a classic demonstration of what most people don't know. There's a concept in airline economics known as yield management, if you can maximise it, then you won't be left with plenty of the most perishable item in a consumer domain.

For those who don't know, an airline seat is one of the most perishable item around, once you close the doors, those unoccupied seats will never make a dime, so why not put some of those seats out at very low prices so that you can make some little change to pay the little bills?

I gather other airlines are catching the bug which seems to be a plus for consumers, but does this mean all the carriers are doomed? I would like to be enlightened further by those who know what i don't know.

IMHO, the ticket prize cut was an excellent business level strategy (cost leadership). You only have to see the stands of Aerocontractors during business hours to see how effective the strategy has been. The queues are really long :) .

Well, you got my drift, you've just confirmed what i hear about Aero's sales performance from an insider.

So, it would be nice to know what the real issue is with Aero's expected demise.

Does the queue translate to revenue income?

Other carriers are not doing 3k tickets and they are also full:confused:

One would not like to have a class in yield mgt, however have you seen any airline that has a constant price on its routes? Aero may have 3000 Naira tickets however I know they also have 27000 naira economy tickets. question is are they able to mange their yiel at the optimum level?

just got paid FULL salary today by AERO same time as always for at least 3 years now.With all the doom and gloom stories in town, aero honours its most important obligation to staff especially locals.Can we say the same the others???.... :=

Hey its nice to know that Aero was able to continue the tradition. Ontime all the time. However its still tight and the Bank is not letting up. Aero is not out of the wood OH!

JABAG, they may not be out of the woods but at least they are not allowing themselves to get deeper into the forest mate. Give them that at least.
