I feel jipped. I only got offered $9000 USD. I went through the same process, and I'm now at the point that they want me to contact GUARANTEE TRAVEL AND TOUR. Interesting enough, I already have a Nigerian visa that is still valid until August 2010. So, really it's just a matter of Pentro buying my plane ticket and bringing me over there (I doubt it).

I also asked about training on their aircraft. Since I don't have a type rating in the 707, 737 or Challenger....I asked where I would be doing training for those aircraft. No answer yet.

Nigeria is not that bad in certain parts. I don't think Delta State is a very good place to be. If this was real, it wouldn't be that bad of a job.

419 Nigeria Scam

This is a DEFINITE SCAM from Nigeria! STAY AWAY!

Pilot Positive 13th Apr 2010 10:59

NASA

If this was real, it wouldn't be that bad of a job.
Yes it would be OK, especially if they were to pay for the TR. However its not real. :{

The next scam could be adverts for Space Shuttle Commanders as part of the glorious Nigerian Space program...you have to pay for your own visa processing and spacesuit though. :hmm:

NASA = Nigerian Aviation Scam Association

Spadhampton 13th Apr 2010 11:27

Glorious Nigerian Space Program?

Possibly.

The American Space Shuttles are being retired this year. Pick them up cheep I'm sure. It's an African Aviation tradition, is it not? Get further use from what others think unusable? From what others think are too expensive to maintain? Push the limit’s a bit farther than what others are willing?

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a Nigerian in orbit before long. Maybe two.

CrazyStuntPilot 13th Apr 2010 16:25

I've had the same email from Pentro Drilling, with the contract agreement and the agency to contact. Thanks for sharing guys!

Pilot Positive 13th Apr 2010 16:39

CrazyStuntPilot,

Just out of interest how comprehensive is the contract? Does it even appear to be a real contract or something someone has made up?

PP

CrazyStuntPilot 13th Apr 2010 19:43

Well, it appears to be a legit contract, with 12 sections and 19 articles, details...

I received an other email as a response from my part for more details, and they wrote this:

"The type of Aircraft we do operate on are Boeing 747, Boeing 737, Boeing 757, Bell 212, Bell 412, Bell 440, Airbus A340 and Airbus A340."

Pilot Positive 13th Apr 2010 19:59

Boeing 747, Boeing 737, Boeing 757, Bell 212, Bell 412, Bell 440, Airbus A340 and Airbus A340.
:hmm: Thats a huge fleet for a drilling company is it not?

A few helicopters for surveying/local transport as well as a mid-range jet for international network purposes maybe + TP for regional flying - you might just get a few muppets to believe....but an A340, B757 and a B747????! What the hell are they hauling around the sky that requires that kind of capacity? :ugh:

Someone's having a joke. Surely? You've got to give it to them for trying, thats for sure. :*

Pilot Positive 13th Apr 2010 20:02

Crazystunt, Meant to ask:

I take it they are expecting some money from you via their "3rd party representative"?

CrazyStuntPilot 13th Apr 2010 22:09

oh yes, their 3rd party just asked for $350 via a western union transfer in order to process the paperwork. What a  joke.

Vortex Thing 14th Apr 2010 02:05

When you start could you drop me a line as coincidentally I won $10m in the Nigerian lottery and all I have to do is go and pick it up :E

FUA 14th Apr 2010 10:01

Scam Confirmation

Just to confirm this is a SCAM.
I have received the confirmation from my Embasy in Lagos.
DO NOT give personal detail, bank account, credit card or money to these people.

Pilot Positive 14th Apr 2010 10:13

Not possible Vortex, as I have just won the $10m lottery as confirmed by an email from a Dr Adebayo, someone who I've never heard from before. What a decent chap.

This is soooo embarassing but would you believe it? A Mrs Kwangai from the Nigerian Federal Bank wants me to share in a deceased person's account. The only catch is I have to set up a separate bank account and put some initial funds in it to make it look real. In return I get a 40% share of the $7m the deceased left!! Cant believe she picked me! I'm made!! I'm just so lucky!! Thank my lucky stars for Nigerian honesty and integrity. Ohhh I'm just so happy... $12.8 m in one day!!!

And the list goes on and on and on... :ugh:

Spadhampton 14th Apr 2010 12:18

So does this mean no glorious Nigerian Space Program?

I’m shocked.

The Nigerian Space Program is recruiting NOW!

Requirements:

- Some kind of flying license with a maximum of 200 hours on anything (we accept applications from those type rated on MS Sim 2005).
- Knowledge of the shape of the planet.
- Generally a good bloke/Girl.

You will need to pay us $3000 for:

- Anything else that we can make up and you will believe.

Additionally: We welcome Pay To Fly cadets who fail to meet the above requirements!

From: Dr Kananga and his assistant who has a hook for a hand and feeds crocodiles.

Disclaimer: The above has no relation to the real Nigerian Space Program - if one exists - and is merely a spoof based on the reputation which has, quite probably underservedly, been attributed to all Nigerian promotions.

Pentro Drilling

Well I feel like one of the club, I received my letter of employment and employment contract from Pentro Drilling today. $12,000.00 USD a month, 60 days on, 30 days off. $2,600.00 for air travel for my month off, free medical, dental, optical, two bed room flat + 2 rooms for my "live in" domestics. That's right, two rooms for my "live in" domestics. Local transportation provided, Free college for my spouse and up to 4 kids.

I sent an email to Dr. Ahmed, he's going to set me up to work in Nigeria!

BTW, that's $12,000.00 @ month AFTER TAXES it clearly says that in the contract.

When I gave this to the wife, she happens to be an Attorney. She had to take out the red high lighter! We had a really good laugh. The Nigerians are getting pretty good with their computer skills! Although the contract is in many different fonts from where they cut and paste!

I'll keep you posted as to the Doctors reply!!

Pilot Positive 21st Apr 2010 12:03

Although the contract is in many different fonts from where they cut and paste!
Nothing like a bit of plagiarism to add credibility...T&Cs ripped off from Etihad perhaps?

Does anybody know of someone who has followed these guys all the way through? i.e. paid the $350.00 only to find that its a scam?

EX-PJ 22nd Apr 2010 01:06

Pentro Drilling

I received the email from Dr.Abu Ahmed today.

I didn't know I could bring some goats along with me!
Oh yes- they want me to send $350.00 USD via Western Union.

I'll get right on that, NOT!!!!!!

Don't send them anything and move their email to the trash.

Pilot Positive 25th Apr 2010 19:28

constructorul, stay well clear and DO NOT send them any money.

You could, however, if you were feeling particularly nasty :}, take the p!ss out of them by playing their game (without paying anything) and see how far you could take it by putting them to as much inconvenience as possible. :E

Personally, I get them to call me back. Cost them as much money as I can possibly cost them with phone bills before they realise I'm messing them about.

perre737 3rd May 2010 17:16

Metro man 5th May 2010 05:54

I'm charging a US$200 registration fee for those interested in my job offer. Payment via Western Union or Moneygram.;):E

Pilot Positive 5th May 2010 09:35

Absolutely brilliant Rottenray! :D Never laughed so much.... :ok:

The fact they attempted to lauch the rocket in an enclosed area AND next to a window was funny enough...but when it went through the window and set fire to the room, well, that was the peach.

Not sure the Nigerian Space Program is as pioneering as those guys though... :hmm:

rottenray 5th May 2010 12:32

Pilot Positive,

Thanks. Actually, I found that vid on another PPRunE forum, and thought it would feel good here, too.

As far as a Nigerian space program, well, after reading a few threads in this forum, I certainly hope they get aviation right first.

There seem to be a "few loose ends and minor details" which need attending to!

However, I must say this: If I were a pilot and 25 to 30 years old, I think I'd enjoy working in country for a couple of years as a skill-builder.

I believe I'd learn A) what an aircraft is really capable of in the very worst situations/condition, B) things one must never do when flying, and C) a lot of patience.

Gotta be fun!

Quite possibly all one thing in Nigeria: You'll be finding out the things you should never do whilst flying in the very worst situation after which time you would have learnt endless amounts of patience...

Never flown in central Africa myself but some of my colleagues describe it as a mix of foreboding and shear terror. Not sure fun could be that much fun. :}

Nigerian space program gone wrong...

BBC News - Nigerian President Yar'Adua is dead, says an aide

Not sure whether to believe it or dismiss it as a hoax story...having said that I dont see any solicitation for money so it could be true?
