Flying SA reg aircraft commerically on ICAO licence...

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I am trying to establish if (in possession of an ICAO licence with a current type rating - Canada in this case) one can fly a two crew turbo prop commercially on a South African reg on a validation (as opposed to a full licence conversion)?

Or is it the case that to fly commercially on any SA reg you need to convert? The SA reg airframe would be outside of SA but within the African continent...

Cheers.

you will have to do a validation of your license to a SA license or do the full license. the validation being the easiest.

then you will have to get the right to work and live in SA to be able to fly for a south african company in south africa. not sure about flying a ZS aicraft outside of the boarders for an SA or non SA company/ operator.

what's your thinking?

If the plane is on a SA AOC it can fly anywhere in the world. The crew will have to comply with SACAA rules and regs and the those of the country in which its based

Go for the validation, just have renew it each year. You can only renew your validation every year if you operate outside the borders of SA, if you fly within the borders also, you'll get a validation for a year and that's it. For the validation you'll have to pass an Air law and Procedures written exam, do a flight test with a DE, then will they only give you the validation. Once you hold the validation just write the Meteorology and Flight Planning And Performance exams, they will then issue you a converted SA license. This applies only to non SA residents.
