Steve Carter

We can be called upon anytime not necessarily in September. Last year they didn't recruit anyone in September. Basically, when they need us, they will call us.

guys, i need some help. Can KQ hire privately/self sponsored trained pilot from an American aviation school who has 300 hrs with instrument rating without any restrictions and done both the single and multi engine and also got APTL and is a Certified Flight Instructor? I know they do take their trainees to 43 and progressive aviation schools in S.A. have tried requesting the info from them without success. p.s I am a dual citizen...coz i know one requirement is to be a kenyan.

irealest 10th Jul 2013 15:18

Yes

Yes sir. You need to go ahead and apply as a direct entry pilot to Kenya Airways as long as you are a Kenyan citizen. Ho wdid you get yout ATPL with 300 hours?

Trackdiamond 10th Jul 2013 18:03

dual ciizens

Kenya does not recognise dual citizenship. At Kenya Airways you will have to produce a kenyan birth certificate nd that of your Kenyan parents if they have reason to doubt your genuineness.Addditionally you need to produce Kenyan ID.All original documents.Passort isn't enough. A guy was disqualified once because hes was doubted to be genuine Kenyan in yhe interview despite al requisite documents simpy because of growing up outside Kenya. He got his second interview a decade later.

Entry

Sorry man. APTL I was looking at after I do flight instructing for sometime but am not doing it anymore. so basically, it's CPL. and honestly, do you guys think I will get a job? yes, they always say they shortage of pilots. but to me i think they mean the pilots who have 5,000 hrs or something like that, and not the 200s. and how much do starting F/Os make in Kenya airways?

Primezz 11th Jul 2013 08:09

dual citizens

oh wow thanks a lot for the info man. i thought the new constitution recognized dual citizens. but i think i should be in good shape since i have my birth cert at hand and can produce my parents' as well if need be. i have my kenyan passport still, although i aquired american one, i still do use my kenyan when entering kenya so i don't pay the for the visa. but one thing i don't have is kenya ID. i left kenya when i was 16, and so couldn't get one before. but wish i had gotten one numerous times have been to kenya. it just didn't cross my mind that it will be of much importance since i still got my kenyan passport.:ugh: but the gud thing is that the area chief of where i have to get the ID is my uncle. so he might fast truck the process for me once i give him the necessary documents. guess my most immediate plan i go back to kenya next summer to get a hold of that coveted national ID!:(

Steve Carter 11th Jul 2013 08:58

ab-initio

btw how many do proceed to south africa with the kenya airways ab initio program

irealest 11th Jul 2013 19:13

Dual citizenship

The new constitution. You should do direct entry my friend. You might want to convert your license to a Kenyan CPL before you apply though. I hear its about 500,000/=. You should be golden. Best of luck brother.

UA405 14th Jul 2013 15:56

Your Kenyan passport is sufficient proof of your Kenyan citizenship, and can be in lieu of your National ID, as long as it is valid. No need to hustle for the National one:ok:

APPLICATION

Hi guys I am having problems getting an application form. Someone please kindly help me. I have tried checking the Kenya Airways website to no avail or is the a manual(hard copy) application that I have to get.

farmwe 4th Aug 2013 06:06

degree .....

This degree issue is quite serious. Most of the developed countries like Britain, China are now restricting the pilots who fly into their countries, they have to have a degree. In the next 10years or so pilots without degrees will be restricted to fly within Africa or their own countries and will be forced to acquire a degree to fly international.

Solid Rust Twotter 4th Aug 2013 06:38

Really? I very much doubt they're going to pull the plug on 15000 hour 777 captains who don't have a degree.

Do you have a link to that?
