Johannesburg - The Civil Aviation Authority will visit the plane crash site in which former SA Rugby communications manager Chris Hewitt was killed, Gauteng police said on Thursday.
"Officials would visit the crash site at 9am," said Inspector Odette van Staden. Hewitt, 24, and his flying instructor, Henricus de Witt, 34, were killed on Wednesday when their two-seater aircraft crashed near Hekpoort, north west of Krugersdorp. "The plane crashed nose-first into the ground," Van Staden said. Witnesses said the two seater aircraft went into a spiral just before crashing around 17:00. Commissioner for civil aviation Captain Colin Jordaan said that since October 1, 12 accidents occurred, of which seven had resulted in 23 fatalities. -- Sapa Source:- [url=http://www.news24.com/News24/South_Africa/News/0,,2-7-1442_2418279,00.html |
