The Luitenant Colonel Chief Of Training at SAX

Apparently our esteemed Luitenant Colonel Dube has just been appointed as Executive Manager Training at SAX. Quite amasing as he only has a grade 3 instructors rating, the validity of which is also questionable and no other training background. SAA kindly gave him 5 years leave with no loss of seniority to hone his training skills. The new job also came with a fat sallary and the Chief Training Captains nice office with a view. I wonder how the real Chief Training Capt likes his new windowless cubicle. One can only wonder how much time will be dedicated to this new task, what with the Presidential Jet and his Government backed charter company all demanding his time. This new act at the Boswell Wilkie Circus might just be worth the entertainment value.:ugh:

I.R.PIRATE 20th Feb 2008 13:07

Dont worry mate. When he dies, he will die a man who has spent his life riding on the wave of BEE, nepotism and a total lack of self-achievement. Never having achieved anything due to hard work and dedication takes its toll on a person - perhaps not on the exterior, but inside; it must be tough knowing that you are merely a quota player, a figurehead, and a blatant window dressing exercise. Strip away the fancy titles, golden wings, door plaques, large salary ; and thats exactly what is left - a political pawn that would have got nowhere on his own.

So well done Mr.Dube, we are all so very much extremely impressed. Viva mediocrity - Viva !!:ok:

Just remember that when you die - you die a man who achieved nothing, while being given everything.

Very True, Pirate. However, these wasters simply don't care what the rest of us think.

He and others like him who live in delusions of adequacy will just continue to flaunt their unearned wealth before us, enjoy zero respect from us, continue not to give a damn, and die laughing.

Hopefully soon.

flyknight 20th Feb 2008 14:49

And so the party unfolds...... I predict this individual will soon be the boss of training at SAA...."THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY" :ugh:

I wonder if the "Colonel" has resigned from SAA in order to accept this newly invented post at SAX. If not, which company is now paying his (2bar) executive managers' salary? This is great news for SAA drivers - keep your seniority number at 'Airways' and take that job with EK,CX,Jet* etc, no worries! (After all, everybody's equal in the new SA)

Avi8tor 21st Feb 2008 04:15

I sit here in my Jumeira villa, building my sand castles, pi:mad:ing myself laughing. The man was by far the worst on his cadet course, if fact, was almost washed off. It totally amazes me what can be achived when your uncle is in the president's office.

I wonder if the Rev Chikane is a Zuma man? :}

No, 5 years unpaid leave.

skyvan 21st Feb 2008 06:34

I was shown a list of the February resignations, Lt Col is one of those who has resigned.

But rumour has it that his salary is being made up by SAA while he is at SAX.

When he returns to SAA, it will be at Executive W**ker, sorry, Manager level, hence no seniority problems.....he probably won't be flying anyway.

This is nothing new, been doing that for yrs. The last of the singapore lot only got back a few yrs ago.

But this is on a truly different scale. Take somebody that is largely useless, with a bad attitude and turn him into the 'newly advantaged'. There is some truly great guys in the cadet program, but this one can achive staggering heights due to political connections.

If you gonna 'fast track' somebody, get one of the good ones.

Avi8or

For once a very sensible post from that side of the Limpopo...

As you are well aware I'm sure, the region you preside in has been built up by, and is controlled by, a regime of families (it's who you know, and not what you know)...it happens throughout the world. We plebs need to deal with it and make the best of it for our careers.

Anyway, If the person in question can do the job, and does it well, good luck to him (maybe we should give him the opportunity to prove his worth). I for one wouldn't give up my flying job to push a pen. So, that in itself is quite an admirable decision.

BTW, SAA has a few highly qualified (academically and flying) PDI pilots, maybe they were just not interested in giving up flying around the world to sit in an office in the departures terminal at ORT.

Just my two cents worth....

flyknight 21st Feb 2008 09:30

This is the way in happens here in SA. Make an (incapable) person (with connections) the boss and then get the experienced guys to the job whilst this individual gets the money, cellphone, car and takes all the credit.:ugh:

Avi8tor 21st Feb 2008 11:07

We plebs need to deal with it
Who's a pleb? Speak for yourself, paleface.

If you logic holds true, why did the 'new SA' ever happen? With your logic the whites should have just stayed in charge. Then you and I could have been still had all the benefits. Oh wait....maybe we are not both wh...:}

Instead we create a SA that has no racial barriers and we all can have a 'place in the sun'. Sorry, I find no justification for the 'newly advantaged' because your uncle is a 'big noise' in the ruling party.

P.S. not sure my geographic location has much to do with the issue. It just makes it easier to laugh.

Once again SAX the dumping ground for the SAA undesireables. This job was not even advertised inside SAX and nobody know if there was a proper selection process to get a suitable candidate. How nice to have a boss that know so little when the training captains at SAX do have a lot of experience and have the respect of their fellow pilots. Ho do you keep these people motivated to still give their best. Wonder if this fellow is also going to claim to fly the president for 10 days a month and then only pitch up at 21 sqn maybe 1 day a month.

Just To Clarify

"Lucky" Dube appointed as the Manager: Operational Training. This post did exist previously, the incumbent moved to another post in SAX and is now with the CAA - a well respected individual. The post was advertised in SAX but as a BEE company, the only pilot within SAX who did apply had no chance! "Lucky" has indeed resigned from SAA - condition imposed by SAX CEO. Don't think the pay is great so SAA no doubt helping out - there has to be some politics in his move? Fortunately it is a desk bound job - checking training related paperwork is correct. Apparently he has already banned the use of staples in any pilot or cabin crew training file! Fortunately as well he falls under the Chief Pilot and the Chief Training Captain calls all shots on pilot training.

nugpot 28th Feb 2008 17:16

Fortunately as well he falls under the Chief Pilot and the Chief Training Captain calls all shots on pilot training.
Not quite true. The MOT position is on the same level as the Chief Pilot, both under the Exec Man: Ops and MOT is definitely above Chief Training Captain.

BTW, he did resign from SAA.

SAX is approaching this the right way and is spending significant resources in equipping him for the task at hand. The company was formed as a BEE vehicle and he will probably find a lot less resistance at SAX than he would have at SAA if he was promoted to management.

contrails8 29th Feb 2008 10:43

how about just a well done 2 the guy. i'm sure he's gone through a lot to get there.

phydeaux 1st Mar 2008 03:52

Yes and now he is going through a lot more ...... coffee that is while he sits behind his desk.

eish 1st Mar 2008 11:42

Baron,

Hopefully you know who I'm talking about, but what is JB's (aka BB) position at SAX now?

If there is more than one person with the initials JB then think of waves or Klipdrift.

Training captain on the Dash 8 fleet.
