Beechcraft 1900 Emergency AD

As the Beechcraft 1900 is such a common contract aircraft in Africa, I thought it would be worth mentioning on this forum that the FAA have issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive, today, 31 August 2006, number 2006-18-51.
This requires initial action at the later of 'within 24 hrs' or 'before further flight'... ie NOW!
This AD refers to a condition that '....could result in the wing separating from the aeroplane....'
Those of you on contract may wish to bring this to the attention of maintenance if they haven't yet received details.
Aircraft affected are as follows:
1) 1900 UA-3
2) 1900C (C-12J) UB-1 through UB-74, UC-1 through UC-174, and UD-1 through UD-6
3) 1900D UE-1 through UE-439
Happy flying!

Also issued 2day:

With 1 wing separated, it does a nice "Barrel Roll" before settling into a Spin.

Sorry, but I just could not resist...:p

Seriously though, thanks for the Heads-up: I am sure there are a lot of Contract Guys who will/must appreciate it!

Thanks for posting about the AD. You certainly quick on the draw as the news started coming through only last night (31st):ok:

Someone has already beat me to it by commenting about barrel rolls. Wonder what would have hapened it the aircraft, that did the roll, had these cracks. Those of you who have not seen the picks, look at them. Not nice

Happy flying
