A different Aurick Air from Mwanza ! BEWARE!
Just as a warning to anyone considering working for this company which is based in Mwanza, Tanzania.
A friend who flew form Mwanza to Nairobi across the Serengeti has been fired for supposedly putting salt and sand into the fuel tank of the aircraft he was flying BEFORE taking-off to Nairobi! (yeh right!) Our thoughts are with our friend ( the pilot) who could face serious legal action for something he is innocent of! How can companies operate like this and blame their own pilots for such dubious actions of the management.... |
I guess they do exist, I got email last week if I wanted to apply for position in Mwanza. It's yours if you want it.......

Come down and check it out for yourself. Africa is an amazing place to fly and get experience, but you do have to be careful who you fly for........ keep your ears and eyes open, and you'll soon find out whats good and whats not..... Enjoy!

Dodgy Operators!!!

fritztheafrican I'm realy sorry to hear about your mate over in Mwanza!!! Mwanza in Tanzania is a really notorious place for Dodgy operators there are 2 or 3 of them there and Auric Air is one of them and it is run by a nasty indian fellow who doesn't have many friends. I used to work just across the lake flying out of Entebbe and I used to bump into guys working for that guy who would always complain infact one of our first officers who used to work for him resigned because he wouldn't pay him any of the night stop allowances he owed as well as salary!!! Your mate should just walk away, nothing will happen, that guy can't do very much and your mate shouldn't feel threatend by him at all, because he is a dodgy operator and he knows it and so does everyone else!!! As for Yabon Dude East Africa is a cool place to fly, as long as you get the right job with the right company. There are many operators, but few of them are really good to work for, most of them skipp on maintenance and proper SOP's and most importantly your pay!!! I wouldn't want to put you off going there to fly but you must get a job flying for a good well run establishment. Auric Air, and a couple of other companys out of mwanza tanzania are certainly not the kind of operators you need to be flying for!!! I hope that helps guys!!!;) |

I took a look at the website for Auric Air Services of Mwanza but there is no information on what they operate. I will be grateful if someone would advise what types of aircraft they have and how many of each. Thanks in advance.

I know they have Seneca and I heard talk of a Caravan, but I might be completely wrong I met someone who was flying for this company a couple of months back

Forget the website bro,i know for sure auric operate the following: 1 X C-402b a.k.a the widowmaker. 1X C-206 a.k.a the bush pilots dream machine. 1 x Pa-34 (pipers lousy attempt to compete with the legendary C-310R, still a very good bush plane). and at last count i also thought i saw them flying a piper warrior. Based out of mwanza the company has a firm foundation and a good safety track record over the years,im sure u will enjoy flying with them.if u need any more info do not hesitate to pm me bro,and give me a shout when ur in Tz..like we Tanzanians like to say "Karibu sana" no more a 406pilot "now that shouldnt be tough to recognise" |
Guys, thanks for the info. Their web site has a beautiful photo of a flying boat and gives the impression they have aircraft that are somewhat larger than those you have mentioned. I am looking for somewhere with multi-engine turbo-props, so this company is not quite what I am seeking. That’s a pity as I have overnighted at Mwanza and it seems a good place to be based. It is good to note that Auric Air has an excellent reputation for safety and reliability. This is something that I put a high priority on.
406pilot, I will certainly make contact next time I am in Tanzania. I am keeping in contact with other operators with larger aircraft so hope to be based there some time in the future. |

Hum...406pilot...i don't know if you fly in tanzania but your informations are mostly wrong! Sorry telling that but i have to clarify some points: 1/ Auric Air website is useless with a lot of wrong informations 2/ They crashed their PA28 2 month ago at Bukoba 3/ They badly damage their PA34 on landing...they have to change one wing. 3/ They have a very bad reputation regarding safety and maintenance 4/ Most of their pilots don't stay longer than 6 months (salary, flying conditions...etc) 5/ The C402 hasn't flown for 6 month without going for maintenance and they still operating it for commercial flights. (i don't talk about performing the wings SB...) Now, if you really need a job...go for it...but if you re a low time pilot...please be very careful and keep in mind you re the captain and decisions taking belongs to you. Fly safe and welcome in tanzania...mp me if u need. |

unlike you i was born and brought up in Tanzania,needless to say i did most of my flying here aswell,i thought the handle "406pilot" would clarify things to you since there are very few of those flying in the country,but i guess you havent been here that long,have you??? as far as bush flying in africa is concerned ur the captain,f/o,flight planner,over-load master,aircraft refueller,cabin crew,and sometimes when things get really bad the priest too... Everyone flying in these parts knows this for a fact and still chooses to fly here so my advice to you and every other aspiring pilot wishing to fly here would be "if you cant handle the heat keep away from the fire"... no more 406pilot |
406pilot no one is offending Tanzania or Tanzanian aviation ! In the interest of aviation safety I would have to agree with Yabon I myself have heard some news about the outfit mentioned above and I witnessed a story from one of their crew members, that gave me goose bumps !
Folks be carefull who you fly for always remember humans only have one life and its not worth a dodgy operater ! Good luck, Tt |
