What were the circumstances, 4G?

Reckon you'd have to pig her in pretty hard to break the back and lose one of the wings like that...:(

MysticFlyer 25th Jan 2006 10:06

Yip, looks more than an arrival as opposed to a landing....still waiting for the fire tenders....?

Speedbreak 25th Jan 2006 10:18

....fire water tank was used for taking showers!
And the truck .... still to be fixed ,under the MJM's control tower!

Thank 4g for the pix!

Cheers

Speedbreak :ok:

Based on all the comments from the past, would the fact that the Aircraft may have been so overgross cause a problem like that with a little added sink rate??
I dont know, just asking....

G...You always seem to be on the spot for these events....you've missed your true vocation....Incidentaly I take it that all those standing around are theMbuji Mayi emergency rapid response elite...

Surely it's lost both of the wings?

Solid Rust Twotter 25th Jan 2006 11:40

Looks like she's leaning left. Wing not necessarily broken off.

New Pics

Just received these with an explanantion as to what "possibly" happened....
Dont quote me!!
Be advised today around 11:00 LT the An-12 from AEROLIFT company had an
emergency landing in M. Mayi. Most likely the problem was caused by
landing gear malfunction. Due to the belly landing the a/c began to burn.
RVA fire truck responded to the emergency, but due to the low water
capacity was not able to completely suppress the fire at the first stage.
In addition, despite the declared (by M. Mayi RVA) foam availability no
usage of foam was reported. During the brake caused by water refilling the
fire began to progress rapidly therefore the arrival of the second fire
truck from the city was not a big help at the second stage of fire
fighting. In two hours the a/c burned out almost completely. According to
Mbuji Mayi ATC all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.
