Gripen

Hopefully soon our esteemed air force will be in possession of the new Gripen and thereby sadly saying goodbye to the trusted workhorse Mirage/ Cheetah .

I have had the fortunate experience of chatting to an American F15 pilot about the Gripen. His words were and I quote : " the Gripen is a nimble little fighter , but I prefer ammo and fuel"

What you say?

You can't compare the two. Different aircraft of different generations for different roles.

Sure thing, but you still need ammo and fuel.

I prefer ammo and fuel
Not to be pessimistic, but the way the airforce if looking now I doubt that they could afford either of the two in any case.

Let's hope the NSAAF will have pilots to fly the Gripens once delivered - otherwise they might have to " outsource" tp get pilots - or will the cream from ZIM come to our aid(s)?
