Advice for a twin-turbine?
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a twin-turbine able to carry 20+ pax and has good specs on take-off (>= 1000m airstrips)... Any suggestions? Tx! |
The Antonov 38, Streched version of the Antonov 28. Powered by Garrets and with western Avionics. Not sure who has any though. Also the PT-6 mod Caribu. You also got the Dash-7, but might be a bit big, and the Dash-8 Series, but not sure on their T/O performance, I know that the 100 series can operate out of 1000 meter bush strips but not sure how much load it was carying. Also heard of it flying out of a 800m strip at 4000ft elevation.

Dornier 228, 19 pax but good shortfield performance, stay away from those with dash 5 engines though.

How about an Embraer EMB120.
Maximum cruise speed 584 km/h 315 kts Range, 30 pax with 91 kg each, LRC (alternative: 185 km + 45 min), ISA 1.481 km 800 nm Service ceiling 9.754 m 32,000 ft Take off distance (maximum weight, SL, ISA) 1.560 m 5,118 ft Landing Field Length (SL, ISA) 1.380 m 4,528 ft Pressurization 483 hPa 7 psi |
G-I or HS748 or Andover. they are cheap and do the job out of 500M strips in Sudan. Anywhere from 30 to 70 pax depending on what you choose. there's also the Buffalo DHC-5.... Can only be used fr civilian transport in Emergency operations....

oooooohhhh props props props again....so whts else is new ohhh prop-jets u say huh hmm still those damn noisy props...silence is golden ask all those bose wearing aviators...and jet pilots even if they only have 200hours on type(does the 56 sim hours count)
anyways since im here to help in the 20+ passenger category i would still prefer the dhc-8-100 series..although im still to meet a de-havilland plane which is cheap to operate but does the job perfectly and handles the african strips with ease...why do i know so much abt it u ask....well this is one plane the no more 406pilot almost flew... keep it up there fellows, no more 406pilot |
Hi guys,
Many thanks for your posts... I took note of the Dornier...but what about the parts...must be expensive, isn't it? I'll make some search about the HS748... & try to contact Dash8-100 pilots. I must make a survey for maintenance organisation capable maintaining these aircrafts... Thanks! |
PM me for Dash 8

A.T.R maybe , but parts are very expensive

You are quiet right Ruffus...
But it has a good advantage...."Hotel mode"...very nice in isolated areas! If you have more infos on the ATR42 i'll be pleased to get them! Thanks |
