Job for CPLH in Africa?
Hi, I'm a Spanish Helicopter Pilot with 1700 hours experience.(one/biturbine)
I will like to work there in "ON-SHORE" (tours, fire, charters, filming, sismic. sling........) Could somebody help me? If somebody need information from Spain, tell me. Sorry for my bad English.:( Julio |
"ON-SHORE" helicopter flying isn't very common in Africa compared to "OFF-SHORE" flying. Most of the rotorhead guys fly "oil company support" to off-shore platforms.
Have you checked the "Rotorheads Forum"? By the way, if you get your ATPL will help you alot as most companies require it.......but I can stand corrected on that! Nothing wrong with your English so far. Good luck. |

Job-hunt in Africa
Hello everybody,
I'm planning on going to Africa in 15-25 days to look for a Job. After reading several threads on this forum, it seems that Namibia, Botswana & Tanzania are all good choices. I'm 27 years old, come from Denmark and I'm currently working on my ATPL (Distance learning). I have 254 hrs TT (207 multi-engine), FAA-certificates and IR + CPL/ME. A chief-pilot in Botswana told me that the most used plane is a C-206, and that it would be a great advantage if I were to get rated/checked-out in that plane when I get there. To get a job, what would you advise me to do? Is Namibia the best place to start and then travel from there to Botswana and then to Tanzania? Any other advice will be highly appreciated.... Cheers and happy new year |
Flying job opportunities
Hi everyone,
I'm a Flying Instructor in the Uk 1000h single engine. Looking to move on to something different and always wanted to fly in Africa and was wondering what sort of jobs opportunities there are for people with my experience? Any advice would be appreciated so I know where to start looking and get a feel for what's out there. Cheers |
First hassle, unless you are a South African, you will need a work permit and they are not so keen to give them out with so many nationals looking for flying jobs.
Second hassle, you will need to either validate your licence and I believe they are now limiting this to a year without the unlimited renewals, or convert your licence which would mean doing all the SACAA exams and flight tests. Just a couple of points to consider. |
thanks, are these licence hassles the same for other African countries i.e botswana, Namibia etc? How easy is it to sort out these problems and apply for jobs from here in Uk?
|
you wont ever get hired in the delta or nam from your arm chair in the UK, you have to go there and get to meet the guys and get liked before you get hired, as far as I recall, now is the hiring time there. Some guys have been known to wait for up to 6 months living in a tent to get a job there! once you have a job there the company sorts out your work permit and local license (this can take up to 3 months on a VERY basic salry) so if you do head over, take at least 3 months beer money:ok:

Thanks Dog, I thought that would probably be the case. Cheers

Jobs in Mozambique
I would like to find out what opportunities are available in Mozambique for pilots with fresh Com, if any. How many hours can be expected a year, pay, aircraft types commonly flown and best areas to look for a job in the country. Any help would be much appreciated! Thx
|
Contact CFA Charters in SA.
They have a contract up in Pemba in Northern Mozambique for a hotel group. They fly Caravans, Airvans, 206's, Islanders etc. Awesome place with Awesome flying! Good luck! |
Jobs in Cape Town
Does anyone know if there is any chance of a job in Cape Town for a fresh Comm pilot..? I know it's a long shot but pretty desperate at the moment and any nudge into the right direction would be more than appreciated.
And how much of a mission is it to get work permits for a Euopean. I did overread that it's far from easy.. |
