Airport security for private jet at Kigali...

Was in Kigali in January of 2012 and at that time the international security firm in charge of our passengers, the crew and the aircraft recommended and hired 2 armed guards to stay with our aircraft around the clock... That was then.

I hear now that Kigali and Rwanda in general are very safe and parking/security at the airport is not a problem anymore because there is armed local law enforcement force (army) on duty.

Does anyone have insight as far as the security at the airport and in general in and around Kigali?

Thank you.

Kigali is an amazingly great little airport. Its efficient (not European standards) for Africa, everything is clean, tidy, and works as it should. I often operate in and out of there in a private jet, and I would not give security at the airport or in town a second thought. You won't need armed guards at the plane unless you are carrying some serious VIPs or items. Ground handling is there, albeit expensive for the services actually received. There's a courtesy bus to ferry to and from the terminal (jets get parked out in a remote parking). And everything in the terminal works well. Town is a happily chaotic busy place. Hotels are varied from good to 'good heavens', traffic is okay for the region but there can be delays. In short, its pretty much fine! No worries...

Thanks Foxcotte.

Actually when we were there in 2012 I though the people were great and friendly.

We actually went to see the Rwanda Gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park courtesy of the boss.. A wonderful experience!

The hotel we stayed at was the Serena and it was excellent, no complains from any of us. This time we are trying the Marriott which was built two years ago.

You should try the Radisson.
