ARIK AIR GETTING WORST: Salary Delays...Safety issue... And More..

hi all

Salary delays in Arik, still waiting for September salary and night stop allowance for July/August and September, still no roster, Operates on a Daily Basis Operations usually call you every night around 8pm or 9pm to advise on what flight you are doing the following day., Lack of motivation within the company due to increased financial commitments,
the lack of increment in welfare and
the loss of medical coverage for pilots families.
Because ARIK is a one man operation there is no union or protection for the pilots....many Expat and Local pilots have resigned, 37 pilots in 2 months.
Future is very unsure, little communication between management (or lack of) and crew.

May God save us.

@captmycka
did you just join Arik? The issues you raised have been going
on in Arik since day 1.
As long as crew continue to fly, nothing will change. Got letters for salary increase, the letters were recalled before they were ever paid.
Vote with your feet, whining on PPRuNe won't change anything.
My resignation letter is typed and signed, all that's left is date.

Wow! NEWS FLASH!

AH AH...Surprised to hear anyone post about Arik salary/conditions as if this is some shocking new behaviour. Either you like 30/30 and put up with the hell which is Arik or you pound sand. It surely will not change.

For every 37 resignations, there are 74 Thpaniardth willing to work for free and pay their own way to Nigeria. Don't worry, Arik will always find pilots willing to accept the conditions.

Bottom line: They don't care what you think. Never have. Never will.

I could be wrong, though

Bwaaahahaa!!! Arik air is the joke of the world. For years it's been going on...the only reason it's been silent is because there are hardly any of those pilots left. They walked out of Arik.

http://www.pprune.org/african-aviati...-arik-air.html (Captmycka you even posted here begging for a job at arik before)

Pilots will always come to arik and then they will b*tch to everyone about everything. 3months in they look for the exit. Indian, Spanish, Greek, British, French, American, caribbeans, Italy, Canada, serb, Ghanaian, Togolese, Dutch etc... .... They are all at arik. But the ones who complain the most are the Nigerians. Always complaining of discrepancies and unfair treatment and to be honest plenty of which is true. They "Nigerians" are the ones who must take the stand, no expat pilot will do that for you. Expats are in foreign land with foreign interests they can never force the hand of arik. It's a terrible place to be...but plenty great people looking for a way to get out.

Arik is the perfect set against unionization. Too many self promoting snakes slithering in the grass.

BlUEjuice,

If I remember correctly Captmycka didn't "beg" for a job in Arik. I still remember quite well. He asked for opinions and advise on which to choose between two offers he got of which Arik was one.

Nigerians are not the ones that complain of Arik the most. Lets use PPrune for example, the people that complain the most about Arik or generally, the living conditions in Nigeria and the system are expats. Expats are the ones who complain the most.

Read other forums and you will see pilots complaining of carriers in Europe (I know one LCC in particular). Most of them won't do anything about it for fear of loosing their jobs.

@Mycka,

Clearly you cannot read nor write the English language. I bet you have level 6 on your English proficiency as well? If you had read what others wrote which is over 50 pages of complaints about Arik you logically would have put 2+2 together and seen that ArikAir was and is Rubbish. As a matter of fact I have had 5+ years experience with Arik and Nigeria have you obtained 6 mo. yet?

@FLYDHC8,

You completely missed the point and are very quick to be on the defensive. You must be a career "Naija" man, are you even at Arik? You were right that he was asking questions...but all the answers were in front of him. He's already applied to Emirates...now that he has his 73NG experience.

BLUEjuice,

Is there anything that I said previously that is untrue?

What you perceive as being defensive is just me seeing things from a neutral perspective. Pilots will always complain about one thing or the other and will never be contempt with what they have or where they are. No airline seems to be good enough and the same people complaining now will go to another airline which is meant to be "better" and look for something new to complain and b**ch about too. Read other forums and see for yourself.

My point is, today its Arik tomorrow it will be another airline. Yes the signs were there before he joined but you didn't have to throw at his face the way you did.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, I am not a "career Naija man" neither am I at Arik but I do know what goes on in the industry in Nigeria.

Chairman called for a meeting with Pilots yesterday Oct 12, at the FlightTraining Room 2. What was that all about? Hope the new salaryincrease slated to take effect from September 2013 finally sees the lightof day?

Anyone at the meeting care to comment?

I am also interested in the situation at Arik. It would be helpful if anyone can enlighten us. We don't need unhelpful nonsense.

As a recent Arik passenger LOS-PHC it was most frustrating being delayed by over an hour "due to operational reasons". Sitting in the shambles that passes for the terminal and hearing an announcement delaying yet another flight as a machine landed had me thinking they were playing musical planes with the next plane to land being allocated to the most delayed departure, none of which instills a hell of a lot of confidence from your customers, I can assure you.
I am going to request AERO next flight, so I don't need to suffer that particular mess again.
