Not at all, Old Chap. It was just noteworthy as they were more delayed than normal for them.
Standards have slipped, that is certain, and in a land of medicre choices it doesn't leave much scope.

Emirates Airline partners with Nigeria’s Arik Air for wider access to west Africa
Shereen El Gazzar

Topics: Emirates Airline
Emirates Airline has signed a partnership agreement with Nigeria’s Arik Air in a deal that opens up new routes throughout western Africa for the carrier.

Operating from two hubs in Lagos and Abuja, Arik Air covers domestic routes in Nigeria, along with several countries in western Africa as well as Johannesburg in South Africa.

The deal came as the UAE grows in popularity as a base for multinational companies serving the African market. The UAE’s links with Africa have swelled in recent years amid rising trade and investments. Recently, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been active in encouraging companies in Dubai to boost exports to a continent with a market of more than 1 billion people. It opened a trade office in Ethiopia in 2012 and plans to open others.

“We intend to explore the potential of codeshare arrangements as passenger traffic flows mature between both parties’ networks,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ senior vice president planning, aeropolitical and industry affairs.

The two airlines will also consider expanding their partnership to include frequent flyer programmes, passenger and cargo handling.

“Virtual growth through partnerships from Gulf carriers tends to be with Etihad, not Emirates or Qatar. But Nigeria is an important market and constrained by the aeropolitical environment,” said Will Horton, senior analyst at Sydney-based Capa – Centre for Aviation.

“Arik Air still has much to fulfil on its own before it could consider being a savvy strategic partner for any major carrier,” Mr Horton added.

In 2013, Emirates signed a partnership with Qantas, an alliance that resulted in a switch of the stopover for Qantas long-haul flights to Dubai from Singapore, ultimately boosting traffic at Dubai International Airport.

In February, Emirates leveraged its relationship with Qantas in order to expand its market share in Asia-Pacific. The Dubai-based carrier signed a codeshare agreement with Jetstar, Qantas’s low-cost unit. The agreement gave Emirates’ passengers access to 27 new routes and six new destinations in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

VERY IMPORTANT **** JUST GOT THIS EMAIL

The role of a labor union is to ensure that the balance is not tipped in favor of the employer when employees do not receive wages and benefits commensurate with their contribution.—William Burrus

Comrades,
We want you all to assist and join in the action from tomorrow 5th Dec 2014 until we are ALL PAID send a

clear message to our employers. This is a real chance to bring the airline into negotiations and stem the serious erosion

of our pay dates in recent months.

The time has come to put an end to the unjust treatment of ALL PILOTS at ARIK AIR

PILOTS fly the PLANES and make the MONEY for the airline.

NO PILOTS there will be NO AIRLINE hence NO MONEY.

The driving force to put an end the this blatant "up yours, pilots" ,attitude the airlines managers and owners have towards us, is now in the beginning stages.

It is time to put an end to the continued denial of our basic rights to receive salaries promptly at the end of the month. Even though we are on the lowest pay grades for this level of flying in Nigeria we continue to put up with this atrocity.

Our pay and conditions are unethical, which questions our right to fair compensation for our vital work.

WE NEED A PAY INCREASE AND BETTER CONDITIONS (laundry, food, accommodation, transport, accounts, sim money, 10%.... and the list goes on.

During campaigns like these, standing up for your rights as an individual makes you the target of attacks by management, but if we stand together they CANNOT do this.
Stop the bull**** talking and complaining around the dinner tables, positive changes for pilots will take place, support the industrial action for LATE PAYMENT OF SALARIES.

We are therefore actively encourage you to take part in the industrial action from Friday 5th DEC 2014
UNTIL WE ARE ALL PAID.

In the short term this will indeed affect our company, but the long term benefits are overwhelmingly more significant, both for the company and for us.

Geez . . .

Any posting that begins with "Comrads" is a bit much - this isn't the USSR. I have mixed feelings about the guys at ARIK, but I like them. They have to do right by the folks but they are also employers and businessmen, a respectable endeavor. I want to cut them a little slack and hope the business works. I've met with the senior guys and believe they are good people trying to execute a plan that employs lots of people and takes some pretty large risks. I believe we shouldn't criticize the very people who are investing in our futures. I believe we should support the risk takers.

Arik Air doesn't pay their pilots

Arik Air stopped operation with the A-340 and they haven't paid the pilots since February 2015. I would not recommend any pilot to go to this airline,y0u will be flying for free. They promise a lot and at the end you don't get your salary.
Fly safe

Thank you for this sudden revelation!

Global?

Does Mr Johnson still fly around in his brand new Global Express?

Ah, yes, I thought he does.

I think he may even pay those pilots as well....

It is my understanding the chairman's GLEX was specially modified with a rapidly revolving door to enhance the speed of old/new crew swaps.

So, in other words, the grass is not greener on the chairman's personal jet pasture. Even his personal pilots are a just a shelf-life limited commodity.

Thumbs down

Worst employers, unreliable, not respecting their signatures, and contracts.
They delay, for months , most of the time, the payments of salaries, and sometimes they don't even pay at all their obligations. STAY AWAY from them.

Arik Air doesn't pay the pilots

Hi guys, do you know that if you work for Arik u will b paid late or what it's worse u will not b paid?. Do u know that Arik stopped the A-340 fleet and the pilots haven't been paid their salaries since February?. Arik is looking for pilots, I would never recommend u to go there. They will give u 15 on 15 off but u won't get your salary. We work for money and there everything are promises but you won't see your money. Do u know how many pilots left Arik? Hundreds, why?, cause they r not paid.

What? When did that start happening? This is an outrage! We must band together and commence a letter writing campaign. Someone phone Interpol and report these crimes!

Thank you for this new information. Anyone without access to internet up until this very moment is surely grateful for your prose.

Please keep us informed about any further misgivings with Arik. Actually, I have a few questions for you:

Is 1,500 hours TTL, frozen ATPL with fresh A340 rating acceptable for direct entry?

Are they hiring?

What is the exchange rate from Naira to Euro?

How are the accommodations?

When is the 747-8 coming? I will buy rating for that fine bird.

What is the virtual salary for an A340 Captain?

Do you fly first class between London and Lagos?

How late is late?

You mad, bro?

Arik salary

Hi All,

I confirm the post here above concerning the A340 pilots. We have been fired end of April 2015 and until now, still waiting six months of our salary...

My recommendation is: never join this funking airline, it's a really bull sheet.

Rgs,
