1Time Air

Just wondering what is going on at this airline and whether it will survive til early January. I live in Canada and am going to South Africa in January.
A travel agent has booked my wife and I on 1Time and I'd really like to know if or when it is going to stop operating in order to rebook with someone else.
I really hope they can survive so I get one more flight on an MD 80. I flew the DC-9 for 11 years and do like the type

I doubt you'll find anything more than total speculation here I'm afraid. Personally, I have no idea of what the future holds for them. Statistically it doesn't look good.

Think you should be safe still for early January, but after that is a mystery.

I fly for 1time, and I must say I think it's looking pretty good. The Business Rescue plan seems to have been accepted, looking forward to lots more fun.

SAA BAILOUT KILLS ANOTHER ONE. I am also sorry for the demise of 1 Time. They had a bunch of pretty decent people there. Another private airline enters a casket because of SAA. Go ahead and argue with me. Go ahead and agree with me. How often does it have to be said that it is unfair competition. When SAA is the only airline left they will probably need twice as much to keep them afloat. Governments never run anything properly.

Feelings

You are good folks, and were always spoken about in a favourable tone! I travelled quite a few times with you, always good old-fashioned class service!
As for their national carrier, I'd sooner row than give them MORE of my money!
Our thoughts are with you and your plight. Sterkte!

Shame to all the 1Time pilots.Heard about 30 minutes after they closed down from SA F facebook page.
Unfortunately the corrupt government SAA is still here.Good luck to them and the tax payers.

1time will sorely be missed.

I don't think their financial woes stemed from a lack of "bums on seats"
They offered a great product !
This disaster is a huge set back to aviation in SA.

Does this affect Jetworx too? As far as I know, they were on the business rescue plan too.

The entire holdings company will be liquidated, that includes Jetworx and other subsidiaries...very sad.

1time Airline has applied for business liquidation (02.11.2012) and that all of its operations have been grounded with immediate effect.

The business rescue practitioner has advised that there are no reasonable prospects of survival as a potential financier notified us this afternoon that they are no longer able to invest in our airline. It is therefore with the utmost regret, disappointment and heartfelt disbelief that we have to file for liquidation, which means the end of a dream and an era for all of us.

"I sincerely thank our employees who worked so hard over the years to drive 1time.s business, the travel trade who have been steadfast in their support, and our passengers who carried and maintained 1time during our most difficult and trying financial times, your loyalty is appreciated.
Although 1time ceases to exist, the airline that we.ve built up through blood, sweat, tears and undeniable passion, will live on in the hearts of our passengers and also our competitors, who know that they have lost a formidable and world-class player in the low cost market."
Blacky Komani (1time Group CEO)

1time's Business Rescue practitioners will be in contact with creditors and future passengers to finalise all outstanding matters.

Re: 1time closes shop
One low-cost dies, then a new one starts to operate, how ironic!
Found the above post on the 1time thread, unfortunately that was it no more info. I have also heard the rumour about a new LLC. My friend that works for a ground handling company at ORTIA said that they have been asked to give a quote for ground handling services for an airline operating B737-300 twice a day to Cape Town.
Looks like somebody wants to make a quick buck over the holiday season.(apparently they only want a short term contract)

!Time Shareholders

Sorry to see another company go under while SAA get bailed out again.

My question is
HOW COME SHAREHOLDERS OF 1TIME ARE ALLOWED TO BE SAA STAFF MEMBERS - PILOTS,ETC

Is this not contradictory to business practices.
