Looking for any contract work
Hi guys.
I am looking for any contract work or any leads, or is my TT still too low?
CPL with ME/IR
Total: 850 hours
M.E. Turbine: 295 hours
Turbine: 330 hours
PIC: 514 hours
Rated on the B200 and C208 and will be doing a B1900 shortly.
Any help at all?

Sim, Yes ECAir is operated and staffed by PrivatAir using Swiss flight crews. I doubt they do any hiring in BZV, you would probably have to be hired by PrivatAir in Europe.

TANZANIA! Check out Coastal... no multis but you could work up to PC-12... and also take on a more active role in the office/ operations... the owner's always been looking for a dedicated 208 training captain / office guy... if you have 100 in the van... you better get up here... it's the rainy season aka hiring season

Interestingly enough Dala~ When I threw my CV in with costal... I had around 2600hrs with 1200 on the van. Didn't receive any response from them until 3 months later and it was just the generic thank you email.
Not to put you off James, I think its a case of having to go door knocking there.

Definitely go knocking on doors in TZ... starting with Coastal. With your TT, an ATPL/instructor rating and caravan time you'll look attractive enough to land a job if they hiring. That place is a revolving door for line pilots, but if you can offer more... you will get more.

I've had a few flying jobs here and there.
Two of them were because I answered the telephone when the relevant CP was going down his short list. If his call hadn't been answered the CP would just have hung up and worked his way on down the list. In each case, I made myself immediately and at that very moment available for an interview. In each of those instances I got the job. One was in Africa and one was in Europe.
What this means to you is that you are always contactable.
You answer all calls because there'll only be the one.
You are on call 24/7.
You do not drink alcohol.
You always have a night stop bag packed and a passport handy.
So go and knock on the doors but once you've let slip your CV just make sure that you really are available for the call that will in reality probably never come.

@ lilflyboy... you need to drop off your CV in person and spell the company name right to be considered for a job mate... even with your whopping hours on the van

Coastal is a good company. I can't remember when is the TZ hiring season, but if it's now, as others say, you should make serious considerations as to heading to Dar now and not later. You could try and make contact with Nicola (The Gentleman owner of the company) via email, before arriving.

I understand that you feel comfortable where you are just now, but with no job opportunities at hand there, you'd probably run out of comfortable cash and start getting frustrated soon enough, and you missed out on the TZ hiring season. Unless you have good reason to believe that staying a month or two longer at your current location would bring a job your way, I don't see why hanging around.

I have only posted my CV here a sent a couple CVs out via email, all of my 25 or so printed copies I have personally handed out to Cheif Pilots or Ops. I agree 100% you need to shake hands and meet in person.

It's definitely important to hand out CV's in person - should never be underestimated in value.. BUT what is equally important, in my opinion, is to hand it out to the Chief Pilots of the "right" companies - meaning companies with real upcoming opportunities..

Yes i would't mind to go to Tanzania and then Zambia and mabe Botswana, FI IRI i have 2100hr included 109 MEP, but caravan type plus hours or c 206 would be good to have before going....i think
But when i called almost all of them, well they don't need anybody
Is there any body here knowing the pilot situation now in Tanzania, i might go at the end of june, not sure it is the right time to do it...

From experince, DON'T go to namibia or bots, you have too many hours and won't fit their mold. They hire the same profile of pilot every year and it ain't a guy with thousands of hours. They WILL turn you down for a guy with 300tt.
Also they say whatever, if they say they are not hiring that doesn't mean if you show up at their door with your résumé they won't all of a sudden be hiring.
Best advice, go to TZ on vacation, if you get a job cool, but don't budget on it.

Trust me.. The real fun part is the African bush flying adventure.. Going on Night stops, in The Selous, Serengeti, Zanzibar or Arusha, after a long sweaty day of flying a C208 to camps over and over again, beats the 
out of Parking your shiny B737 outside a frozen terminal and heading for 12 hours rest at some airport hotel.. ;-)
