Antonov 26 range

Dear All,

Just a quick question:
It is possible to fly an An 26 directly from OOSA to FSIA - 2,400 kms - without any stop over?
I read that its range with full payload its around 1,100 kms..

Thanks in advance,

Adrian.

I can't answer your question, but just from practical experience of watching Antonov antics, I feel pretty sure that what the An26 manual says, and what An26's actually DO in Africa are two completely separate things.

Antonov 26 ferry range = 2,700 kms?
I've no experience of Antonovs but what you think an ancient F27 can do based on Flight Manual and what a fifty year old crate can do are potentially several different accident reports apart from each other.

Depends on the model. Some only just reach the nearest market after take off.

@ cavortingcheetah: In my sense the ferry range cannot be considered when the case concerns a cargo aircraft... which is not supposed to fly empty for a round-trip!

@ IRPIRATE: It is an Antonov-26B

Thanks again

Sometimes it might not only be the Antonov that is range limited.
These are not figures to take as genuine and the difference between load range and ferry range should be fairly obvious.
Antonov An 26 cargo aircraft facts
Not much does fly empty for a round trip/depends on the pilots I suppose?

Would the question not be more on air law and etops. At one stage there will be roughly 680nm to the nearest airport (HCMM). Unless special permission is granted as a ferry flight?

Plenty of pirates waiting to give you a tow in those parts.

Gofor,

Do you mean that an An-26 would have to request a special authorization to fly from OOSA to FSIA to respect ETOPS regulation?

I guess that it might be granted by ICAO in this case.

Thanks
