The plan was/is to change jfk schedule to depart los during day and not the evening departure, so when a/c returns from jfk, quick turn and off to AUH.
Nice to see they finally paid bmi and can resume ops from abuja with 800! That will get masses flocking, still cheaper than losing $100k for los-lhr route each time.
I bet BAA will get water cannons out for return of this programme ?. Eurocontrol will be counting the cash rolling in !
As for the new route announced with no commercial dept, what happened to the Angola operation ? Always top of the list ! Not paid over flights perhaps ?

Looks like they may be in trouble next year...
Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Nigeria's federal government has announced plans to establish a new national airline in 2012, which will be nine years after former national carrier Nigeria Airways was liquidated.
Aviation Minister Stella Oduah announced the plan during a chat with her followers on social networking medium 'Twitter', according to the private Punch newspaper on Wednesday.
''We are working on a national carrier that will be publicly owned, with limited financial contribution from the government,'' she said. ''Government will act as a regulator and provide an enabling environment for this objective to be achieved.''
She said the government was reviewing the models of national carriers in other countries, adding: ''We are working to deliver the national carrier by next year.''
Proponents of a national carrier to replace Nigeria Airways said it would boost Nigeria's image and help to realise the dream of making the country an air transport hub.
Several privately-owned Nigerian flag carriers have since been established since the liquidation of Nigeria Airways.

Amcon practically own Arik as it is, they took over loans from defunct banks such as Union bank etc, so Arik aircraft are theoretically owned by the Govt, judging by way most expat senior managers have left or 'resigned', Arik ripe for Govt take over.

Sure, I can validate that there have been plenty of runs with nobody, or 3 people. Not sure what an average is. I doubt 40-50 is the average load on an -800.

OK, don't laugh, just DON'T LAUGH, OKAY ! ! could do with getting current again on the NG having "Classiced" this last 2 years, see that according to aviationjobsearch.com Arik are still looking for 800 Capt's, still offering 30 on/30 off roster . . . . .La de La La de La
Just wondered about the reality here & now.
Are they actually recruiting Capt's, or the Ad is anyhow out of date ?
How long after joining does it take to get on line ?
How much longer after working your 30 days might you (half) expect to get paid?
If you do how much (might) arrive in your account ?
How is life (really ) in the "compound" for 1mth ? I realise you can't exactly hit the town (unless you get off on being robbed/mugged) but is there at least some Beers, & a bit of expat camaraderie to get you through the 30 days ( & nights )
Don't flame me, I have read all the thread, & more, but 30/30 sounds do-able (even in a compound) whilst late pay is sh1t, no pay = no-go
Comments please, on the current "state of the nation "
Cheers

Chinwendu Uwakaonyenma Ogbonnaya
Just posted fishpies link
THought i'd make sure everyone read up on why your arik badge will make you a target for ridicule and searches. I doubt she will be fired, in fact this will not even make any sort of press within NIgeria.

By Salina Patel
AN air hostess who has been charged with drug smuggling through Heathrow will appear in court today (Dec 20).
Nigerian national Chinwendu Uwakaonyenma Ogbonnaya, 30, was arrested on December 18, after UK Border Agency (UKBA) officers found four kilos of cocaine stased in an item of luggage.
She had arrived into Terminal 4 following a flight from Lagos, Nigeria to Heathrow on Arik Air.
Ogbonnaya was charged with attempting to import a class A substance, and expected to appear before Uxbridge Magistrates today.
Marc Owen, director of UKBA operations at Heathrow, said: "UKBA officers are on constant alert, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to keep class A drugs and other banned substances out of the UK.
"We are determined to prevent this terrible trade which can have such a destructive impact on the lives of so many."

You doubt she`ll be fired ???? We`ll she isnt going to be turning up for work anytime soon is she ? None of these cabin crew actually work to do the job of cabin crew..they all want to travel for free to buy stuff to take home and sell or work onboard to steal all the catering...or run even worse scams like the one that has been reported above...that is why the service from them onboard is so shocking.
