Anything in 5N is a step in the right direction as long as concerted efforts are made with stake holders to train and retain skilled personnel on the continent.

2500 no type???

2500 with no type?

You will need the type with more than likely some time on type. If you're an expat (not from nigeria) it will pretty much be tough to get on anything here. A 2500 hr expat means absolutely nothing here or at least to management. We've got guys 2000-8000hr fo's sitting on Q400s, CRJ9's, with airbus & 737types who merely get laughed at when asking about movement to Airbus or NG's; or potential movement to the left seat at 4000hrs.

Arik needs pilots (local&expat) alike but continues on a path of greed, mismanagement/corruption and self destruction. Most of the newer Expat fo's (not many) have done timebuilding programs elsewhere or were seasonal pilots at other airlines. Mostly NG drivers..for expats recent hires. Arik receives a few local fo's from 737classics (aero/vna) who are chasing NG time.

If you are a Nigerian they will hire you, pay for your 737NG type and put you on the line at 250 hours total time. Then they will proceed to give you all necessary training to get you signed off.(very few exceptions)

Arik is a game of concessions....how much can you give up to work a Nigerian airline!

How many times has it been mentioned A345 on 5N to save money, this assumes that HiFly account up to date and if so they will release the records for the aircraft.
At least if it goes on 5N the break even figure will be less than 120% load factor !!!!
Will NCAA insist on blow half the slides as they did on A330 ?

Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Nigeria's Arik Air today announced a deal for two 747-8 Intercontinental airplanes. The order is valued at $635 million at list prices and was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on Boeing's website.

"Air travel within the region continues to grow at a rapid pace and we must prepare our fleet to accommodate that growth," said Sir JIA Arumemi-Johnson, owner and chairman of Arik Air. "Boeing's new 747-8 fits perfectly into our long-term planning. It brings the best operating economics for its size, which is important with the increase in fuel prices."
Arik Air is Nigeria's fastest-growing privately owned airline operating a large fleet of Boeing Next-Generation 737s and serves more than 22 domestic, six regional and three long-haul routes. The airline plans to use the 747-8 on its key long-haul routes.
"Arik Air is growing to become a leader in aviation in Africa and Boeing is happy Arik will use the 747-8 as a cornerstone of their future growth," said Van Rex Gallard, vice president of Sales for Africa, Latin America, and Caribbean, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "With its unmatched operating costs and economics, the 747-8 is the right airplane to help Arik Air meet growing demand."
The new 747-8 Intercontinental features a new wing design and an upgraded flight deck. The airplane interior incorporates features from the 787 Dreamliner including a new curved, upswept architecture that will give passengers a greater sense of space and comfort.
Using General Electric's GEnx-2B engines, the airplane will be quieter, produce lower emissions and achieve better fuel economy than any competing jetliner. It also increases cargo volume by 26 percent.
"As we look into the future, the 747-8 Intercontinental is a must have for Arik Air," said Sir Arumemi-Johnson. "Our airline strives to bring the best, most efficient and most modern products to our customers and that is exactly what this airplane is."

That was the same story with the B777 and B787... The Milestone, now the Cornerstone with the B747-8.

When the time was right Arik "chickend" out of the B777 deal. So that could be on the 1st of April. I believe it when I see it on another tarmac in Arik-colours and flewn on a regular base. There are still wonders in the World.

in london on time in lagos a month late, which is improvement when it was 3 months late earlier in year ! Aug salary was in bank around 26th Sept, i gather Sept will be end of Oct.

Still reeling over B747-800 announcement, though based on B777 and B787 plus the extra B737-800/900's that once were on order, I will not hold my breath. Does this mean the A345 go ?

The 747-800 announcement is very much business as usual.

Expect an Airbus A380 announcement in the coming months / years. A space shuttle in 10 years.

Pilots, I am sure, the world over will want to come to Arik, even without salary, to get a chance to dream about flying the big planes!

A345 wiil go one day....

A345 will go one day... They should have only been around for 3 years as per the business plan and the B777 would have come in around the 3 year mark.

With the fallout of the B777... the business plan had to drag...A345 to year plan..
