Outline

A fellow who went today confirmed it.

As with all outlines, be flexible. Anything can be pulled, so do not be rigid or tied to this. Time is of essence, and remember this is not academic test, unlike the aptitude. Quick thinking and speed is all that matters.

psychometric test

done. now for the wait for the results.
for those who don't know where pride center is, if ur going by public transport take the 33's to rounda where you will find mats going to'village' take one of those n ask the conda to drop you at the pride center. it's directly on their way. for private cars, take the junction leading to Tuskys but go past the supermarket a little ways. you will see the pride center(big red signs)

as for the content of the test, its basically what rookAviator posted. but as pointed out, its not an academic test n some of the content may change. just be prepared to think FAST. speed and accuracy.

make sure to factor in the jams coz the tests start about 30 mins after your scheduled arrival.

good luck to all who are attending the psychometric tests and SUCCESS! lets try to break through as many as we can.

Angry

The abstract reasoning wasnt easy for me. I've check at morrisby site to see its purpose of which it says its aimed at determining problem solving skills. Now, all the other sections proved to be fair. GAT, numerical, spatial and mechanical ability were rather easy. At some point I felt like they were easier than the aptitude questions.

This abstract reasoning thing has left me feeling flat and empty. But how credible is this test? Personally, my employer gives me lots of problems to handle. Now, am I not solving problems everytime I and my colleagues suggest to the company what to do?

I'm sadly left in the hands of fate based on that abstract test. I can see that the test has inadequacies. Well, a poor correlation is highly likely to exist between abstract test and people who aced it or failed it. What reason explains why those who ace it fail in SA? On the other hand, what reason explains why those who fail it are good problem solvers in real life? *These are rather subjective questions though.

I hate the fact that this abstract test may ruin my dream.

*My interview details are as such; I went for aptitude on 6th and did my psychometrich today 7:30-12:30. There was a group which came at noon when we were leaving.

*The theory of alphabets suggested by Brainiarc seems to hold water.

Rest. And relax.

A nice tip for these yet to sit for the psychometric.

Rest beforehand. Eat a good breakfast.
Fretting over preparation before hand will only do more harm. The nerves in the morning can be quite daunting, so, once again, rest enough. Sleep well. Eat well. You'll need it.

Headcount

About 40 in the morning and another 40 jioni. But there were some DEPs in the morning. So we are talking about 60 ab initios in total. 60 three times (19th, 25th and 4th) returns an approximate figure of 180-200 ab initios. So, some 150 or more people never made it past aptitude.

One observation here, most guys who were grilled yesterday don't contribute much in this thread. Some guys rarely smile in those interviews making them very unapproachable. No wonder only about 3 guys from yesterday's entire group are contributing here.

For now, my fingers are tightly crossed as I await the email for psychomotor. I hope the numericals, spatial, verbal and mechanical will counter the effects of abstract test.

Right of reply

Unless KQ sends you a regret please do not despair or right yourself off, I know of current first officers who were contacted well after the whole process was over! If your application is still active and you haven't received a regret letter just be patient. The anxiety is unbearable but that's KQ for you.

As @Alphatango says keep your hope alive...least it's not a regret.. but it's weird coz I hear KQ never sends regrets in the initial stages..all the same don't despair..!!! believe..!!

That's the spirit, don't give up on flying if that's your true passion. You'll have more fun and invaluable experiences training on your own terms not to mention you'll pay less in the long run and still join KQ as DEP. All the best.

All Hope is not gone

KQ may reject you now, but later they will come look for you. Let's take heart from the Whatsapp-Facebook deal.

Quote: "WhatsApp founder Brian Acton was rejected by Facebook & Twitter in 2009

His company has been bought by FB for $19b"

Flying is a dream that can never be extinguished. We keep the faith

For real?

Is it worth the cost, time and risk to pursue the channel towards DEP when an interview lurks at the end of the tunnel?

If the passion is to fly then its better to spend money while focusing to fly for other companies (wilson based mostly). Flying for KQ, whether through Ab or DEC, is subject to an interview. Thats where substantial risk lies with regards to flying for KQ.

To better focus on these issues its better to keep away from flight schools. They will always give the positive side of the coin since all they want is MONEY.

Nocturnal Technocrats?

I was wondering why KQ sends most of the emails at night. It seems there is a nocturnal team of technocrats who determine peoples' fate. Most likely composed of experienced pilots. I'm observing this because the HR was there during the day jana. So by evening she leaves for her home and the technocrats takeover and crack their whip.

Again, when a guy on this thread called HR some days back, he was told there is a team handling the process.
