Don't get things mixed up. Expat pilots flying on the Avionco contract were owed by Avionco and not Arik. That's why Arik doesn't use Avionco anymore. There is room for improvement but it aint that bad. With the new DFO, the ops side of things is improving.

The Worst Place

I worked at Arik for a few months. Started out good and went downhill steadily. Avionco got screwed by Arik and in turn screwed their pilots especially the ones who worked through their rotations for a promise of extra pay. The only benefit of going to Nigeria and Arik is that after you work there; anyplace else you go will seem great. Oh and you could get Malaria as a bonus or take the medicine and ruin your liver. The perks go on and on.

Nigeria is changing rapidly, and some degree of internationalization is occuring. Albeit slowly.

Arik Air Recruitment

What is the difference among all these recruiting agencies? i.e. CAE, Sigmar, etc. Does that mean Arik is not capable of doing their own recruiting? Is it worth it to give this airline a try? If so, any new hire can elaborate on the conditions and the prospect of Arik. Honest and straight forward replies only.

Arik cheated Parc Aviation also who pulled their pilots out of there. And then Arik later stopped paying Avionco who were left with no choice but to remove their pilots which ended up with people being left unpaid.
They have a habit of trying not to pay for anything...hotel rooms got locked after unpaid bills at the Sheraton so when crews returned from duty they couldnt access their rooms as Arik hadnt paid the hotel bills for many weeks. Ask the owner of the De Vine how difficult it is to get paid his money from Arik.
They can order 787 and 777 and 747 but before those Aircraft get delivered millions of dollars have to change hands....and from a company who were ment to start flying to Boston in May 2007 in an A330 i have doubts about some of the stuff I hear about them.
Nigeria invented corruption and the country is well known for their scams try to sell anything on ebay these days and you`ll get a million messages asking for your bank details so they can transfer £10000 for the £10 your selling on ebay aslong as you`ll ship it to Nigeria or they want your paypal address and then they`ll try and email you some fake payment confirmation to trick you into thinking the funds have been sent so you`ll ship the item haha.
But be your own judge go there and see i`m sure i`ll get people telling me I shouldnt generalise and tar people with the same brush....but if you go to Arik you`ll get ripped off somehow....and when it comes to going home on your month off try getting a ticket haha when the guys who book them tell you sorry we cant book anymore tickets as we have run up a bill with the travel agent and it hasnt been paid....we have started using another travel agent now and been able to run up another bill and book some tickets but now Arik hasnt paid them either and we are running out of travel agents who will offer us any kind of account you might be best of trying to jumpseat home or buying your own ticket haha
To all who have come and gone through Arik will know exactly what i`m talking about...oh and they`ll give you a mobile phone to but after a week it`ll get barred as Arik stop paying the phone bill...great days

Nijasea very funny haha

Mr BlaBla sorry about your experience at Arik. What where you expecting from Arik! A British Airways mock up?This is a new airline in a not so favourable environment in its early development phase so its only normal that things go wrong, that is how its management would learn and grow.

Good luck to every one at Arik!exciting times ahead for Aviation in Nigeria

Blabla,
whilst I undertand your feelings on the situation at Arik, I do take offence to your statment - Nigeria invented Corruption. I can take you back into history from the colonial times right up till date on corruption from the "colonial" masters. However this is an aviation forum.

Well its the only country in the world to have its own dedicated code for fraud and deception known as NIGERIAN 419 FRAUD....do a search on the internet and open your eyes. There prob isnt a single person on here who hasnt received some kind of FRAUD email from some Nigerian scammer with some story about how they have $800000000 in gold burried in the ground but have no shovel to dig it up but if you send them $50 to buy a shovel once they have dug up the gold they`ll share it with you...c`mon fool if you can come on here and tell me Nigeria isnt corrupt your either a fool or one of the people who sends these emails around and you wanna play down the whole Nigerian corruption idea

Nice to know you research a lot blablabla. You do realise that there is no country in the world that does not have a police code for Advance Fee Fraud and such code is listed under section 419 in the Nigeria Police Books which has been around since the British ruled. Back to aviation, Nigeria like every other place has teething problems in start up companies and Arik made its share as other companies. Still asking where on earth i can log Jet time with such low hours in my log book .

Devil Help?

We would need the services of a spin doctor Ala Ojo-Madueke to cook up and wash up the mess left behind and fowarded by our dear Patriotic management of you know who, airlines and naija brothers.A lot might not taste delicious but fact is ITS TRUE,The image will only change when we collectively act responsbly and accept that all is not well instead of negative patriotism in the face of home truths.Change is what we must.Ala OBAMA .
