1. They are sorting out the tax issue and this will be implemented in March (new Tax Year).
2. Salaries are higher than most and going up again.
3. Accomodation is always very good (some companies expect crew to share rooms).
4. ET pays DG, CRM, renewals and does not expect crew to pay for ratings (think Solenta).
5. There is a fleet of three BAE146, plus EMB120's arriving, and talk of even more prospects at the company.
6. Office politics has quitened down considerably with the departure of one or two people at the office.
7. The crew on the whole are a great bunch - and those who create friction eventually work themselves out anyway.
8. ET are paying 13th cheques this year and those on contract over Xmas/New Year's are expected to receive an additional bonus too.
9. Full-time contrators are paid a "retainer" amount when they are off duty from contracts, with the choice (not demand) to fly on charter when home for additional salary plus allowance.
10. Co-pilots on charter earn more than your typical airline co-jo salary - for working a lot less.
Every company has its own problems. It's very easy to always point at the faults. I think though that it is also pretty short-sighted to not consider the positives and weigh them up against what you see as the negatives.
ET are doing well, the crew are looked after. And still it's easy to point fingers whilst sitting on the fence.
They have come along this past year quite considerably.

A little birdie tells me that ET is up to antics again with their training. Seems like 120 crew get a 2 day ground school and 4 hours in the plane and a 1P rating. Wonder who is doing the ground school?
Dunno about things being so cool there - seems like an exodus in motion. At least 4 resignations now and rumours of more in the pipeline.

ETA
Thanks Boss, I agree with you.
Please do resign Mr 4 Bars, we have "frozen ATP" applications flowing in. These guys and gals will be on accelerated command, why? because they are more valuable to us and the industry as a whole...
Why b!tch? where you not offered the E120 rating?? Or did you turn it down...oops, I forgot, no gray area with the E120 and ATPL for P1.
There is lots of jobs out there, no need to stay with ET. The difference is that ET is now a company with more carreer prospects than most contract companies. Lets look at the fleet that we OPERATE:
1) DHC-6
2) B200
3) B1900
4) E120
5) BAE146
ET Kenia has 10 aircraft already, not bad for a "new" startup hey?
4 years with this company and you are ready for any airline in the world,"my boy"
Have you ever had to pay for any training with ET??? Thought so.
E120 Ground school is 4 days, flying for 3 days and in May 2008 to Flight Safety in Paris for first Prof Check, yes a sim initial would be great but the bean counters dont allow for all that. Did you see the quote from BAE Systems for our 146 training? 25,000 pounds for 2 pilots, excluding airfares etc.
Go figure.

Yes Smeegol, and you have never known people to move on in life because of better oppertunaties etc? No reason to say that if people resign from a company that things are going bad. Maybe you should not lissten to your little birdie as your birdie has definitly got the wrong side of the story. It is clear that things at ET are going good and a lot of people has worked hard towards this. It showes bad character to be with a company and the bad mouth them on a "skinder blad" just take your stuff and go if you are soooo unhappy

Suitcaseman, you are in no postion to judge this as you would have no idea about the experience of the crews being upgraded to the Breasilia 120's.
Lets just be honest, going from a Beech 1900 to a Brasilia 120 is not exactly a massive leap in terms of aircraft complexity.

Maybe the airlines are forced into OTT conversions because the government is forcing them to fill positons with inexperienced crew to try to make up for EE and they know they have to do it right or they are going to kill good old fare paying pax if they dont?????
Fk me! show me another contract company that puts in this type of training, and no doubt they are moving their top 1900 crew over to the 120, thats like moving to a C172 after flying a C150! Not rocket science!
Or maybe it is just that the taxman is funding the airline conversions?????
Well done ET, you are setting the bar for the rest of the contract co's.

Suitcaseman, you are opening an interesting can of worms here. For the record : I am a firm supporter of sim training, but as I said, the guys signing the cheques has the final say.
GA companies do not have the funding to send crew to simulators for initials where as airlines do. How many accidents in SA GA could have been prevented if crew went to sim?? Think about it.
Don't just look at ET and the E120. Anglo does the same for a L45, no sim, only reccurent in sim, like ET, Naturelink, Norse, Awesome, Qwila, NAC, KAS, FEDERAL etc. Solenta does it the proper way and well done to them, but who pays for that training?
The Captain with the least hours on current course has 3000TT with most as B1900 P1, the other guys in excess of 5000TT.
Regards

"seriously"
As for ET taking training seriously, of all the ATR pilots that worked there, only one pilot managed to do a ride in BKK, even P1 upgrades were done on the aircraft, no sim training at all, their approach to safety and training was below par, even with dedicated crew who did there best (some of us really enjoyed working there and the flying at times was awesome). And with the little guy at the top still in charge, I'm sure it wont change. Enjoy the flying, I'm sure you will end up going to some amazing places and awesome strips......but when it comes to recurrency time?????????

Beeech19, Solenta uses Simuflight's simulators for B1900 training and Norse Air sends their Saab 340 crews to Sweden and the UK for simulator training.
With Part 61 coming your boss may have to start taking pilot training a little more seriously.
