The company has always been good. No wonder why out of almost 200 pilots at least 150 of them are foreign nationals who most often choose to become Mauritian citizens. From an article about a female MK Captain i recently read, the company is currently trying to convince Mauritian nationals qualified and working abroad to come back to work for them. But knowing them, they are always on the look and must surely have a pile of qualified cvs.

Furthermore, they opened their own academy. So they will definitely have to absorb the pilots they've trained, future of Mauritian aviators like myself could be good. They ordered new aircrafts but are now leasing it, surely not forever. Once market expands and they bring back the a/cs, very experienced Captains who've got 5-6 years of careers left could be offered a great expat salary and a comfortable life on a very sunny beautiful developing island to supervise line training of new recruits !

If you're a Mauritian national i encourage you to apply, but if you're not then leave the opportunity for fellow Mauritian nationals. Getting a work permit for abroad is tough, as long as the company will have experienced expats willing to join, they will never do an effort to absorb the local trainees(We all know this is an experience process to hire newbies). This is how you get young pilots like me working on a cruise ship as a waiter to keep my license alive while by now after an excellent high school and engineering degree, saving hard to complete training i should be flying high !

Trump calls this protecting our jobs !

the issue isn’t the expats and their amount of experience. It’s the locals lack of experience. Maybe you should be flight instructing and building hours instead of blaming your lack of qualifications on those more qualified.

There's always a smartass like you around the corner coming up with such answers ! But let me give you a fit reply that might fix your attitude !

Firstly till this year august so far there was no school in Mauritius where newbies could do instructing ! The only country so far that was hopeful for Mauritians was SA, but now even SA says they have way far enough pilots !

Secondly i hope you saw my username : CHEASA -> CH -> Swiss trained pilot and Swisso-Mauritian!
Even Switzerland or all western European countries are going for MPL to get new pilots instead of absorbing available pilots on the market so why should Mauritius differ ?!

Where do you come from ? An eastern banana republic ? Look around son, all countries even in Asia have already started promoting their own nationals through pilot dev programs ! Malaysia and Singapore or China don't even want to hear about western expats and to give them flights locals don't want ! Locals cost them less and will work toward the dev of the country while an expat is always here for a purpose ! In the shame of being hungry and arrogant, you're looking up only at your benefits ! And right now am in Miami and i can tell you Americans say go fight for what you deserve on your land !

Did you even read about the country's GA and Com av before commenting ? If we go by your attitude then those paying taxes and waiting to serve their own country should not ? If there not even a begining, where will they start ? You remind me of P.H, a foreigner who just like you thought he's way too smartass and too qualified that he's too unique for MK. Go read in the news how they brought back to earth. Come here with this attitude, i'm sure they'll whip your ass and correct your attitude !

regards Sir !

And yeah there's something called concurrence deloyale ! Go read abt it !

In other words it sums up to be unfair to locals if expats come here with their experience because most of them are coming from larger and more developped continents ! The access to the market and facilities definitely will give more openings than us. Through openings this is how they will always be more experienced and qualified ! And if your logic is more experienced ahould always have the gig then definitely locals won't ever have a job ! If me a dual nationality am getting it tough to find a job, what abt the guy is purely Mauritian bred !? Think think and think Sir !?

I think that there is a problem. It’s YOU. YOU seem very good at making excuses and exploiting your credentials, but are unable to deliver. You mention how good your schooling was and that you have an engineering degree. Yet you are not gainfully employed as an engineer. You could be working in the Middle East and taking flying lessons as we speak instead of bemoaning your station in life and having temper tantrums. A recruiter would probably pick up on your sense of entitlement, superiority and resentment. Good luck.

Oh, excuse me CHESSA, Swiss trained, should we bent in front of you and kiss your feet ???

You don’t have a clue of what is going on with MK. They have been abusing, harassing, and throwing out pilots without any valid reason for the last decades.

You are talking about some banana republic, look around yourself dear Swiss-Mauritian!

This little airline have not always been good as you are saying. There is still a big clean up to do over there!!!! Seems to me that you were looking it!

You just showed me how emotionally you're attached to your reply. I already have all my license, its an opportunity am waiting for ! As far as the rest is concerned, im simply no more in engineering because am not passionate about it. Someone who really have ambitions in that field would do better thañ me !

Not my feet but my a probably ! After we people are coming back to reshape the island. You sound like a local who is politically involved and trying to show a bad image of the company. Your <<kiss my feet>> line itself gives me a sense that you're a hin... local. No need to say more abt it.

i dont have a clue ? I'm not working there, but i know a lot of those line pilots. You're an utter piece of bs in case if you're MUS, instead of supporting locals you're siding by foreigners. Sounds a bit like Indian ?! Trying to be the nice guy or local guide !

Firing people ? Are you talking abt that guy who failed his revalidation ? Or that medically unfit guy who still wanted to be paid ? Or that foreigner who tried to raise a strike ? No chance man no chance !

Banana republic ? I dont think the island is ! Me and a lot of people who came here for a cheaper and reasonable quality of life can speak, we're having our time ! And i have a passport on the name of this country, so its totally legit for me to support it. Atleast am not an opportunist, rather a man with moral values and intellectual integrity !

Cheasapilot, Swiss trained, ( Swiss-Mauritian) you have to be a direct descendant of Daniel Bernoulli with such an ego. A man with moral values and intellectual integrity should not trash on “hin or MUS” as you are saying….I will not comment on you any more, live your dreams with your values……

Son, in the first place itself you should have sticked to the initial question. Thanks though !

If I may,

Mk is a great airline. Great bunch of people. But of course like always you do get a few rotten apples. There has been so many local intake in the past 2 years - it's nuts! But good for those young kids - they deserve it. With the confinement, nobody knows the future. There was a big shortage of pilots worldwide lately; unfortunately I think the wheel might have turned.

Nevertheless, only those with a strong sense of dedication with regards to Aviation will achieve their goals. Good luck.

Well I'd say there is a significant risk that they will not make it. But even if they do I'd be surprised about any hiring soon, at least on the crew department.

After this is over?

I have read the Board Communique of 22nd. April announcing MK into Administration. Is there anyone out there with first hand knowledge of Mauritian company law and procedures who can enlighten me whether this is akin to Ch11 in the USA which, in principle, allows the company to continue to trade with protection from its creditors OR whether it is just a polite way of saying we’ve gone bust = game over, I.e any tickets for future travel on MK are worthless??
